In Prince Edward Island, a province in Canada, hundreds of Indian students are facing deportation after it changed its provincial immigration rules. Around 300 students are protesting and have threatened to go on a hunger strike if the Canadian province doesn't review its latest immigration policy.

Veteran TSN broadcaster Darren 'Dutch' Dutchyshen, one of Canada’s best-known sports journalists, has died. He was 57. His family says 'he passed as he was surrounded by his closest loved ones.'

The job posting, which has since been removed, was advertising for a “volunteer” at Shoppers Drug Mart that would restock shelves and clean the store.

While multiple factors play a role in falling divorce rates, the costs of separation make going it alone a daunting prospect for many Canadians.

Canadians are currently experiencing one of the worst and longest declines in their standard of living in decades, a new report says.

New development policy: code generated by a large language model or similar technology (e.g. ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot) is presumed to be tainted (i.e. of unclear copyright, not fitting NetBSD's licensing goals) and cannot be committed to NetBSD.

Why? They were remote workers

The corporate job cuts at Walmart won't affect the Canadian operations at the Mississauga headquarters, according to a source.

The arbitrator found it was unreasonable to extend it to staff who worked “exclusively remotely” with no prospect of going to the office.

The bottom line is that immigrants, students, and workers chose Canada over centuries because we sustained high levels of growth and high standards of living. Canada’s declining affluence over the past decade undermines this pull factor.

I don't like the title but I thought it made some decent points for discussion.

Here's an article about the same guy getting released in 2014: https://www.thespec.com/news/stoney-creek-residents-fight-relocation-of-sex-offender-keith-theodore-constantin/article_589b5b81-454f-5beb-91be-2950d52dccd9.html

Here's another article about him getting arrested again shortly after that: https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/hamilton/headlines/convicted-sex-offender-keith-constantin-arrested-again-1.2726024

Here's another article about him getting released again a year later: https://www.yorkregion.com/news/schomberg-residents-on-edge-over-release-of-high-risk-offender/article_37eaeef3-e3ec-5110-bc53-706b6970e66c.html

Obviously he got arrested again at least once at some point because here we are talking about him getting released again.

Also from that 2nd article: "He was also convicted in 2000 of sexually assaulting a young boy and of sexually assaulting a 45-year-old blind woman in separate incidents." So this goes back even father than I what I can find just on google. Serial rapist catch-and-release for over two decades. Canada's legal system is a joke.

A decline in morale after record profits? I think a pizza party is an order.

I really hope this is the start of a massive increase in pressure on the rich, government and those who rip us off on the daily. We're notoriously bad at voting with our wallets and protesting but practice makes perfect.

It's very obvious those in power and those with wealth have had a super easy and uncontested time (much of that they engineered for themselves and we let it happen) so when faced with pushback, they feel very uncomfortable.

Let's keep it up and shed our nice nature. We need to make a stink at every turn. Culture wars and social issues are absolutely important but this is about our money and our daily lives, we have to learn how to get serious about this before even more is taken away.

Anything to do with controlling the internet I fear is the start of real censorship. A new "occupy wall/Bay Street" that actually has teeth this time is a legit threat.
