China's economy is already undergoing a transformation and they've started moving their capital overseas. Chinese owned businesses will operate out of lots of other countries.

Also: it takes a long time for supply chains to handle change as we saw with the pandemic. How many years of high prices for Chinese goods before all of the manufacturing has left China? That is assuming that other countries can immediately match Chinese efficiency and don't have higher prices for many more years due to needing to recoup the initial expenditure.

Yeah it sucks that capitalists outsourced (and continue to outsource even in the service sector) all of your jobs, but they're doing it because even the meager amount of your production that was coming back into your pocket rather than lining theirs is too much for them to tolerate you having.

You're attacking the problem from the wrong angle because that's how they want you to attack it. Funny how the wealthiest American oligarchs aren't threatened by any of this economic change that's supposedly here to help the average American.

You're worried about "right to work" while Elon added 70 billion to his net worth and thousands of people (generations of his offspring) will never have to work a day in their extravagant lives.

Keep worrying about CHY-nuh, though.

Fair enough, I felt it important to clarify (and check) so these developers and Team 17 aren't unfairly punished by the general state of the industry.

It doesn't seem like you need to worry here.

That's giving the algorithms too much credit. They don't encode user desires they encode user engagement bait. Like everything under our capitalist system the motivation is profit: in this case ad revenue. Sometimes positive things or agreeable things drive engagement, sometimes negative or divisive things. As long as users spend time scrolling on the platform they'll both be given equal weight.

As with anything profit motive driven it's just about what makes more money not what makes more sense or what makes better outcomes. The core assumption of capitalism (at least how it's sold) is that profit causing activity correlates with improvements to human well-being. How anyone still believes that, I'm not sure.

The UN is not nor should it be a Western organization. He attended the G7 and it was also correct for him to attend BRICS.

Go ahead: destroy the world order by polarizing the UN. Let's see what happens. History says world war, but maybe this time the bad guys will feel sorry and apologize.

No problem, I'm starting to think about what I'll do next election so it's a good push to start looking into changes since 2019 myself. A lot has happened to say the least.

CBC usually puts out a political compass quiz that's a way to see where you land compared to parties on policy points. I'm looking forward to it.

Partly media coverage and partly that these things come in waves around election time. Coverage from the 2019 election goes into some of their policies:

https://www.investmentexecutive.com/news/industry-news/ndps-proposed-wealth-tax-would-generate-60-billion-over-five-years-pbo/

https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/ndp-singh-health-policy-federal-election-1.5175899

I can't find sources verifying the claim but I remember that contemporary to the election the PBO assessed the NDP budget as being the closest to balanced between the major parties (based in part on that wealth tax).

The capital gains exclusion amount right now is 50% (which means that $1000 in capital gains is taxed like $500 in income) and the NDP platform would have taken that to 25% meaning it would be treated like $750 in income. You might be asking why working for your money means it's taxed higher than investing for your money but that's a bigger conversation.

As for UBI, it hasn't been a part of their official platform in previous elections that I recall, but NDP members have expressed support and laid out plans for it and it's far more likely to be tried and executed under NDP governments than Conservative and Liberal, though Liberals have run trials at the provincial level (though sabotaged by the cons as soon as they took power of course).

Next year will present an opportunity for a new platform but I expect many of these things to remain on it. I encourage you to look into all of the party platforms at that time. I occasionally check in on them off season as well, for example to find out what Conservatives are proposing for after they "axe the tax" (spoiler: nothing), but haven't looked at the NDP recently.

It's a coop game and what they're describing sounds more like "progression" than microtransactions. Unlocking new things is a core gameplay mechanic going back to before the Internet. Did I miss where it implies anything about microtransactions or pay to win (again: coop game)

wealth tax, decreasing the capital gains exclusion rate to bring capital income closer to being taxed like normal income, windfall taxes on profiteering, increased social services (expanded medical care including eye care, dental, and mental), support for UBI

The dental care plan is a (libwashed) NDP policy

Just recently Israel said they will not allow Palestinians to return to northern Gaza. That's ethnic cleansing at best. Biden is still in charge.

Are we expecting perfect? Is stopping a genocide perfect? It's the bare fucking minimum you clowns. Stop giving Netenyahu a blank cheque
