I went with the virtual appliance when I installed Home Assistant several years ago, turned out to be a great decision looking at how it's architected. I only self-host the database separately, which i've found easier to manage.

the fact that the storage usage keeps growing

There should be a setting to reduce how long Home Assistant retains data for - I removed the limit on mine, however its possible that on newer versions they've changed the default

Hope you find a solution though - I think node red (capable of doing dashboards on its own) with something else is going to get you part way there.

Good education is so underrated, yet so difficult to actually get, especially with these silly book bans and stuff which only serve to narrow students' perspectives

I can't think of any scenario where I'd ever want to describe a word as a "festering abortion", much less permanently remove one's ability to type.

OC could probably do with a hug, getting that upset over a portmanteau seems a bit excessive to me

Isn't that one of those mini lenovo thinkpads? Really neat machines 👌 although their age is showing nowadays they're still really capable and robust.

Using an app: says "Deleted by creator" in comments, says "Test" when I hit Reply

Although there have been some past times where I see deleted comments completely readable without hitting reply, with the trashcan icon showing theyve been deleted

Or also possibly discoloration, I had an OLED display on my last phone, and while it was amazing in terms of deep blacks and vivid colors, the screen looked kind of tired and green-ish after 6 years of use... rip Galaxy S5

I never really got burn-in because I mostly ran my display at lower brightness levels, however pretty much everyone else I knew with an OLED just treat it like a normal display left cranked at max brightness 100% - safe to say I've seen a few devices with some pretty noticeable burn in text and UI element outlines 😅

My current phone is an LCD, and I may actually end up staying with LCD due to the extra brightness - particularly outside because I now use it as a bicycle computer too.

I'm a little disappointed Steam discontinued the LCD edition of their Deck (besides the 256GB model) but it's pretty understandable looking at how competitive the handheld gaming PC market is getting, and how much of an improvement the OLED display is for colors, HDR, and battery life in particular

Love the look of this, thank you for sharing! Surprised I haven't heard about this before and I've been Linux HTPC'ing for years

No idea if WINE can run UWP.

If it can there may probably still be issues with DolbyDecMFT missing (no audio) and maybe a black screen due to HDCP error

I'm all for it to be honest. The 737 Max sounds like a death trap, and until Boeing is banned from certifying their own planes nobody should be flying in these IMO.

The FAA needs to start certifying these themselves again, and remove the existing loopholes/exemptions that allow some design changes to avoid recertification

Honestly this, 100%.

My bike can easily get me to & around the nearby city, no problem at all. Bulky shopping? Not an issue, I have pannier bags.

Long distance trips though? Absolutely no chance. They require some planning and pre booking bike spaces on the long distance train, mainly because our public transport has been turning into a mess. It's been on a steady decline with prices on the increase, and its not really an attractive option anymore.

I won't be giving up my bicycle, but I have eaten the forbidden fruit and started learning how to drive, since it's the only alternative to bridge the ~200mi journey between here and the people I care about. I dislike it a lot, and it's actually quite stressful being behind the wheel, compared to just relaxing on a bus or train. Even riding on my bicycle is much less stressful.

I don't think they will officially support it outside of the deck IMO, having used one in the flesh they have hardware optimization down to a tee - which to me really rounds off the deck experience.

The rapid sleep/wake and some options in the quick access menu would likely need some ironing out on other hardware configs, not sure how nvidia card support would work too...

That's mostly going to be in the hands of Bambu I think, they only recently just allowed users to flash custom firmware onto the X1.

If Prusa doesn't come back with a strong challenger we will be in trouble IMO. They have that amazing corexy that rivals the Bambu in performance (but not price!) but for a lot of people it's too big anyway sadly
