Ubuntu installation not being able to detect my Nvidia GPU

NVidia and Linux... don't get along very well. They've also been caught violating the GPL in their drivers, resulting in the kernel being hardcoded to block them in some instances. There is good reason why Valve picked an AMD APU in their handheld

Ubuntu partition at work today and finding out my Bluetooth mouse stopped working with it

Modern bluetooth controllers store the paired devices on their onboard memory, rather than only in the OS (allowing your bluetooth peripherals to work in the BIOS etc). If the two paired device lists fall out of sync, this could lead to erroneous behavior, especially since you're dual booting two completely different operating systems using completely different driver implementations to talk to your hardware

Just wanted to share why things are broken - not trying to persuade you to change your workflow. Use whatever works best for you!

For anyone running a ROM based very closely on AOSP, the ability to disable Fast Pair was sadly not built into the OS until Android 14

Before Android 14, it is possible that Google has backported this setting to your device using Play Services. It can be found under Google Settings, Devices and sharing, Devices, and "Show Notifications"

I used to pass all the data through to Home Assistant and show it on some dashboards, but I decided to move over to Zabbix.

Works well but is quite full-featured, maybe moreso than necessary for a self hoster. Made a mediatype integration for my announciator system so I hear issues happening with the servers, as well as updates on things, so I don't really need to check manually. Also a custom SMART template that populates the disk's physical location/bay (as the built in one only reports SMART data).

It's notified me of a few hardware issues that would have gone unnoticed on my previous system, and helped with diagnosing others. A lot of the sensors may seem useless, but trust me, once they flag up you should 100% check on your hardware. Hard drives losing power during high activity because of loose connections, and a CPU fan failure to name two.

It has a really high learning curve though so not sure how much I can recommend it over something like Grafana+Prometheus - something I haven't used but the combo looks equally as comprehensive as long as you check your dashboard regularly.

Just wish there were more android apps

I honestly admire the transparency of the updates on the p.d meta community. Thanks for sharing the background, despite the situation not being ideal

Really seems like a recipe for disaster tbh, for voice actors in the present who won't be paid as much, and then the games themselves once the replica license expires

Basically I am using mull on android and librewolf on linux

You may prefer to skip Mozilla entirely and self host your own Firefox Sync: https://github.com/mozilla-services/syncstorage-rs

Otherwise, i've been using Firefox Sync for years and haven't had a single issue with it.

Regarding data sharing, do note that your Firefox Account email address is shared with Troy Hunt (haveibeenpwned) via the Firefox Monitor service, so Firefox can warn you if you have suffered a data breach. Deleting your account is the only way to opt out of that. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-do-i-opt-out-firefox-monitor

I personally have no issue with it as he's a well known security consultant - BUT the caveat being that he's a Microsoft regional director, you couldn't know if that data is being shared any further.

With root privilleges? These things are running a full fat operating system? On a wrench too, what? Not even 3D printers run a full OS 🤦‍♂️

Mozilla's at least used local AI so far, although it's unclear whether they will stay on that route.

My opinion on LLMs is pretty much local only or no thanks 👍

Does the issue persist on another swipe keyboard too, like gboard or florisboard?

For me, swipe typing in Florisboard is showing the full word in the title box when creating a new post, as expected

Even a really low end ebike can do better than that, and compared to the 300k price tag of this flying car, the cost of said ebike would literally be a rounding error.

Speaking of price tag, you could buy a REAL plane, a cessna 310, with a 1000 mile range (870 nautical) for less than the cost of this!

Wow, this sounds a lot more serious than session hijacking. Are they straight up using Chrome's special token to generate brand new Google Account session tokens?

If so, i'm not sure how Google is going to fix that without wrecking the Chrome user experience for non tech savvy individuals

Any steel frame mountain bike should do IMO. Trek, Specialized, GT, just to name a few, but generally all brands are solid choices as long as it's not purchased from amazon, a walmart, or other generic big box store. Decathlon's in-house brands are pretty reasonable, if they operate in your region.

Bicycle-specific retailers typically have tons of choice and variety in their offerings, may be worth giving those a look.

If you'll be going off road frequently, check how affordable inner tubes are for that wheel size, so you can carry spares and repair quickly in the field - otherwise patch kits will get you home at least
