wow, this is actually amazing.

You’d think a rapidly developing service like Lemmy might face restrictions like that due to resources but Twitter? Mismanagement beyond belief.

It was very satisfying flipping and sliding phones like this. I wonder how it would be to transfer back to a tactile physical keyboard after all this time. I’m not sure if it’s just nostalgia but I almost feel like it would be better

ah ha, my clients company will have outages with the servers every couple of months, this one was a lot longer.

I agree. At this point, even if Reddit backed down for everything it seems like the future there is doomed no matter what. I got a lot of joy out of connecting with people and getting content out of Lemmy this weekend. Looking forward to seeing what this site grows into.

This is a really poignant article that hit the nail on the head for exactly how I feel.

hey dude, I did this in Friday night and spent all weekend getting in deep with Lemmy. If you are coming over from Apollo, try the beta iOS app, Mlem.

I really like the communities I found in beehaw but have been steadily exploring.

i think you can engage and interact across both so it may not matter as much.

The API issue was a huge nail into the coffin of the user experience at reddit. For sure, mobile site will disappear and then old.reddit.

Everything about this is utterly tone deaf, you can see it in u/spez answer in his AMA about how the company will continue to be profit driven until it’s profitable. Bro, this is not how you talk to your user base. Your actions, policies, and strategic outlook should be toward driving the user experience and your service so that it is profitable. Not degrading all things for grinding down every extra cent at the expense of your entire companies differentiators.

Fuck spez, fuck reddit.

100% and they also didn’t need to be total tools about it. giving a month window is a joke, being snarky assholes answering AMAs, telling their user base that profitability is the only thing that matters to them.

Surprising nobody, Reddit continues to make really awful business decisions. This is just another nail in their coffin.
