For clarity, are you manually downloading or using the *aar's for automated downloading?

I love Quake and have for years but it's definitely sad to see how barren the franchise has become and the ways that QuakeCon has changed from what it once was

Hoping this a fun watch though!

The explainer may be sincere; however, it is clear that privacy and an open web are not in Google's interests. They contradict that sentiment in the explainer entirely. There's 0 reason for any one to give them the benefit of the doubt.

Here's my advice:

  • Don't torrent without a VPN, seriously!
  • +1 for Mullvad VPN, it's privacy focused and works great!
  • Use qBittorrent, it's the standard torrenting software that basically everyone uses nowadays. It's lightweight and reliable.
  • Make sure to set up qBittorrent after installing it, go into settings and bind your network interface to your VPN so even if your VPN is off accidentally or gets kicked off somehow you will be safe. You can also setup the "kill-switch" functionality in most VPNs so that it kills qBittorrent if it goes off, but that's not always 100% reliable.

As far as Udemy courses, I've yet to find a good source for them myself, at least any relatively newer courses. I've never tried to find art courses but I'd say using a torrent search engine like Knaben or qBittorrent's built in search functionality.

Disgusting! These bills never seem to end, it's insanity.

Believing that certain folks don't deserve basic rights because of their identity, sexual orientation, skin color, etc. is not an opinion that's acceptable. No one with a brain wants to hear any of that non-sense thankfully!

But dreams have a nasty habit of going bad when you're not looking.

Any other fans of the Max Payne franchise here?

Although it's unlikely to ever happen, I'd love to see a remake or even remaster of Max Payne 1 and 2! 3 could be remastered or remade as well but it's still new enough for now I guess and also playable on modern hardware without mods/issues.

I think out of the 3 games, 1 is still my favorite all these years later, but 2 and 3 are masterpieces in their own right as well!

And who could forget the forgotten treasure that was the Max Payne movie with Mark Wahlberg, Mila Kunis, Ludacris, etc. Middle-school aged me at the time was so hyped for that movie and enjoyed it although it got destroyed by reviewers.

Give us a Max Payne TV show someone!

I love mastadon and highly recommend it! I've had nothing but a great experience thus far

I love the aspect of it being tied to ActivityPub and I do still utilize Instagram primarily as a way to communicate with friends and family, so I'm willing to give it a try. However, I don't think it will replace the love I have for Mastadon or be able to match the aspects of Mastadon that I really enjoy: the positive communities, personalization, no algorithm, etc.

I feel your pain 1000%

I tried for the longest time to get my wife, other friends, family, etc. to use Signal to no avail. Trying to explain Lemmy or Mastadon to them is like trying to explain the concept of fire to cavemen. (Not that they're dumb or even tech illiterate necessarily, I just don't think most folks care enough to bother with it sadly right now).

I'm not sure if you're on iOS or Android from the screenshot provided but on Android you could try something like RSS Widget (on the Google Play store) you just add in the appropriate RSS feeds and name them with a title/header and it presents a similar widget on your device.

This gives me an idea to try and make one of my own for Android! That was the only one I came across that seemed halfway decent during my search.
