damn, I was fine turning it down before finding out it had AI at the core.

I would've considered it if google were still anti-evil, after all, Microsoft has fucked up hard enough to push users away from free operating systems. but nope, Linux it will be. somehow to be simpler than dealing with ms or google bullshit

because it's the mamdani effect, and the world needs to know. duh.

proof that people can grow up and recognize things that are just wrong

which is proof that anybody still supporting some of the stuff going on today is a lost cause because they've reasonably had their chance and it's time to cut them loose

this is probably the only way to get a usable account on reddit nowadays, since you need to trawl through shit accumulating karma somehow before they even let you post a comment

or at least that was my experience when trying to make a new account on a completely fresh device + IP to try and do some troubleshooting. it was unsuccessful.

I considered it, but didn't because of the communities I was still a part of.

I finally left when they IP banned me for saying stuff like "I'm surprised nazis aren't being attacked tbh"

the third party API thing is when I pretty much completely stopped contributing quality content, though. to anywhere - I don't really do that anywhere now. touched some grass, y'know?

parents who don't parent

stayed in a hotel recently during a hockey tournament. kids were banging on doors and intentionally hitting the same door more than once. they knocked paint off the interior of my door frame doing this, because they hit it extra hard due to the do not disturb sign.

I took a walk after a while and noticed that this behaviour was clearly visible from the lobby where the parents were hanging out, you could hear the banging sounds echoing through the stairwell fifteen feet away.

I was very close to losing my shit on them, but I didn't want it to be worse the next day

nah, they defined it better, actually

*okay, not totally better, as they didn't say media. but my point is that they mentioned making the noise rather than using headphones, because using headphones isn't the only solution, turning the goddamn volume down or off is also valid

locked in and on point, though

they won't get along. one has the next room in darkness, and the other in harsh white light.

it could never work.
