Important point here is that $450 million what he claimed to have on hand. So we know it has to be significantly lower than that.

I look forward to the forced sales of his properties.

Yeah that's why I've held off on buying one of these. I would love a color e-ink display for art/design books but the tech just isn't there yet. I'd be ok with the colors just being so-so, but the darkness and lack of contrast is a big issue.

Yeah and anybody complaining about it at that point is just being a whiny child.

Yeah also iOS is getting RCS support soon so the whole point is moot. The whole blue bubble thing is a lot of people with way too much time on their hands to get worried about stuff that doesn't matter at all.

Whole saga has been stupid

I never saw a good use for them at all, but people seem to love the minis. I think they might be big with older folks who don't want a large tablet, but have shit eye sight and want a couch device that's easier to read than a phone. That's my theory anyway.

Yeah agreed on the trending problem on Mastodon. In fact, as a whole it does a pretty poor job of serving interesting content without putting in some work. The only way I've been able to get a stream of stuff I actually want to see is by filtering a lot of stuff out and following a lot of specific hashtags.

I think the problem they're wrestling with is definitely technical but also partly philosophical. Because when you start doing trending content, you start looking at some amount of algorithmic aggregation and that can get messy when you're positioning yourself as a network that specifically doesn't play the algorithmic BS game like the Metas and Twitters of the world.

I dunno how I could have missed it. There's been like 20 posts about it it seems like.

Don't forget the Simpsons. Dad, 3 kids, a homemaker spouse, and two pets in a 2 story home with 4 bedrooms, 2 1/2 bathrooms, a garage, basement, and a huge yard in a safe neighborhood. All that on a blue collar salary.

Used to seem totally normal but now that I type that all out it sounds insane

I mean that's just how it works. I bet there's cities in your country that cost more to live in than others. Salaries and availability of jobs in those more expensive cities will probably also be higher and the middle of nowhere.

[–] nicetriangle@kbin.social 5 points 9 months ago (2 children)

Exactly. Cost of living is way higher than that in the US.

Ideally, touch grass.

Law's never gonna work tho. What are they gonna do? Start IDing social media users? I bet all the conspiracy theory wackjob MAGA Qanon types down there will just love that.
