Don't feel too bad, they have access to the same internet as everyone else. They are just as capable as you and I to look up what is actually going on in the world and verify what they have been told.

So now would be the time to remember that while a VPN does hide some of your online activity from your ISP and your government, it is trusting the VPN provider to not collect that same activity information. Switched on my daily driver around 2016 and have been doing all but VR gaming on Linux since about 2019. I would totally recommend it to any one as long as they aren't a tripple a, release day kinda gamer.
