How is that a problem? The entire point of training is to memorize and generalize the training data.

There's plenty of technical discussions. Join them and actually contribute something to them instead of starting these garbage posts.

No it wouldn't. It would be far worse. OpenAI news is often the only news which I see is actually relevant on the front page.

No and it's just a dumb argument. In Microsoft's presentation just a few days ago, they revealed they were planning on running their data centers on completely renewable energy. The fair comparison here is how much resources it takes to raise a person until the age of 25 where they start to contribute to society. And it's also what proportion of these people are actually creating new knowledge which is what we expect these models to be able to do? It's a very small proportion.

On the other hand, I asked ChatGPT-4 to build a table of specific production and GDP contribution information for the 2 dozen most important raw materials production industries and the results were well reasoned and fairly accurate. Don't think the average person on the streets would be able to do this, let alone know what the answer is off the top of their heads like GPT-4 knows right away.
