I assume you're adding the blacklist into your host file? How big is your block file? I remember one think that finally pushed me to use pihole and adguard a few years ago was due to my large host file causing >1s dns lookup time. Moving to pihole improved performance significantly in my case. Not sure if OS these days can handle large host file without huge performance impact though.

Where I live, doctors are discouraged (though not forbidden) to treat themselves and their family because of increased risk of misdiagnose. For example, when treating their own kids, some people tend to worry too much when their children get some fever, which lead to over medication. On the other hand, some people tend to not worry too much and not treating their kids until it's too late.

Adguard's default blocklist doesn't block many in-app ads sdk. Make sure to add some 3rd party block list like Steven Black's.

Made me wonder how long Apple would support their Vision Pro devices as both devices are similarly locked down by their manufacturers. The Quest 1 was released on 2019, so it got about 5 years of support. Apple might support Vision Pro for longer (maybe 7 years?), but at $3499 (vs Quest 1's $399), it'll going to be hurt for the owners when it's no longer supported.

I always thought ubuntu logo is three kids holding each other hands, not three buff dudes hugging each other.

There are a lot of things to do in nms now after years of updates. Right now it's 50% off so I say it's worth it

Unfortunately vpn (and vps) providers are very wary about providing service that specifically target customers in china because when their service inevitable got ip-blocked by the gfw, those customers would immediately issuing chargeback, which is much more expensive to process than refund. The only providers that are still in the market for circumventing gfw now price their service accordingly (i.e. much more expensive than the usual vpn marketrate) to absorb this risk.

Only if they're stating this upfront, in a giant text. Those apps hide this capability and are thus categorized as malware. Turning the victim's computer into a residential proxy has always been a staple in botnet operations.

Homelab is a hobby, and like other hobbies, people actually loves doing the "unnecessary and overkill" stuff.
