Probably one that's feeling the pressure from over 1000 workers organized into multiple unions and wants an out. At least that's my bedtime fantasy

It's literally a matter of national security for other nations.

It's the annual government greenwashing getaway.

The way I look at it, things have to get better. Because if they don't then we will destroy ourselves. Barbarism until socialism.

Give people the basic dignity of existence, even when you're pissed at them.

Why do you believe that what he did wasn't mobilization? Enough people voted for him that he won, that's called mobilization.

Why do you disagree? He mobilized the same number of voters, consistent over 3 elections. He got them to care, by borrowing leftist aesthetics to push class division.

Politicians mobilize voters, not the other way around. A politician failed to effectively mobilize. The strategy isn't just "make everyone vote", it's to get people to care. The genocide isn't a single issue to be ignored, it's 43k reasons to not vote for either candidate.

I'm not aware of the history of this movement. Could you please provide some context? I want to push against reactionary undertones I might come across

Wow things sure changed about Android roms! I still remember how difficult it was to try to simply install a rom through Knox

Company could endure biggest US strike of 2024 as unions accuse it of intimidation during contract negotiations

Disney could face the largest strike in the US this year after it was announced that thousands of theme park and hotel workers in California will vote on whether to stage a walkout.

Three trade unions representing 14,000 “cast members” at Disneyland, Disney California Adventure, Downtown Disney and the Disney hotels announced an unfair labor practice strike vote would be held next week amid negotiations over a new union contract.

In a critical statement, union leaders accused Disney of “unlawful discipline and intimidation and surveillance” of union members. The entertainment giant did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Taken from a Press Release by the group:

LONDON, 1 July 2024—Two young trans activists scaled the NHS England’s London headquarters at 133–135 Waterloo Road in London on Friday to stage a protest and have remained there ever since. The group, now made up of seven young protesters, all 18 or under, has one simple message: Trans Kids Deserve Better: we are not pawns for your politics.

The powerful direct action has been organised by the “Trans Kids Deserve Better” network, which is calling for: access to gender affirming healthcare for trans children and young people, protection from discrimination and disrespect in their daily lives and the right to be heard in all decisions that affect them.

Their protest comes in the wake of the government using emergency powers to ban all access to puberty blockers in the UK, a move that was supported by Labour’s Wes Streeting, likely to be the next Secretary of State for Health. It also comes in the context of a General Election campaign where trans people and trans youth have been used as ‘culture war’ talking points, but not allowed to speak for themselves.

“We are staging this protest to remind politicians and voters that we’re real kids, not just political talking points. We may not have a vote, but it is our lives that are at stake,” said one of the activists staging the protest. “Gender-affirming healthcare is a matter of life and death for us, and we hope that our actions will bring awareness to this fact and encourage others to fight for the healthcare and dignity that we are so shamefully denied.”

The new bill primarily clarifies rules that were a bit vague, but it also has new changes that will substantially improve life-work balance.

  • ESST can be used in at least 15 minute increments and cannot be required to use more than four-hour increments
  • Qualifying workers were expanded to people hired with an expectation of working 80 hours in a year, rather than actual hours worked. Some jobs still exempted
  • ESST usage has expanded to bereavement
  • ESST rules for use are expanded to all paid time off
  • Employers that do not provide ESST must pay the worker for twice the amount they were supposed to get in ESST

Classic Jacobin, several months late on important news /s

Seriously though, while the article primarily focuses on the rule change from last year, the backdrop is necessary to cover what seems to be the first case since the rule was established. It can never be understated how important this NLRB ruling actually is. The laws still need to be updated to reflect modern union busting tactics, but this ruling is still crucial. The Cemex ruling restores part of what's known as "Joy Silk" doctrine, which was a major factor in the huge boom of unions from the 1940's through 1968. The casino is "considering it's options". I hope that means they cement the rule.
