How are they making them? Just fuel reprocessing? You can make them pretty cheap as a side effect at scale of you want to. US can't though.

I ride my bicycle in traffic. I find the differences in our perceived risk profiles funny.

More like everybody was progressive at the time, from Teddy(a progressive conservative) to Wilson to Hoover. In the end it pretty much just meant liberal. I'm comfortable being a socialist and explaining it from there.

I don't really like progressive because some of the major figures of the progressive era a hundred years ago are people I'd like to keep a large distance from.

We've tried nothing and we're all out of options. Let's move to the right.

It's because your challenge as to if they'll call them bad people now that the election over is some seriously painful cognitive dissonance that they can only resolve by anger at a position you don't hold.

Well they don't say where it was but I'm assuming it's Canada since a Canada post employee saved one by smashing the window with a big pole so she could crawl out.

So the PSA wasn't intended for that. It actually kind of only shows up late at night after most cities curfew and is supposed to be an anti-deliquency message, lol. The Atlanta Child murders are the other high profile case that happened right around Walsh's murder though. Both popped in the national news in around '81.

What's important about the Atlanta Child murders is they were ALSO dramatized in 1985 after the success of the Walsh dramatization( https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Atlanta_Child_Murders_(miniseries)). It was even more sensationalized and was specifically designed to fuel the panic. That's why I consider the Walsh precursor really the watershed point. It was, however, gradual from the '60s as the news media really found out how to exploit it.

See https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Missing_children_panic for a more complete overview. You'll see this is also intimately linked to Reagan, the satanic panic, homophobia, and the political right.

I honestly doubt people who vote for AOC and Trump in her district are in any way representative of the swing state voters that actually decide the election. Engagement is what went wrong, obviously, but how it went wrong in those two places can be very different.

It was the dramatization that did it though. That and John Walsh testifying to Congress with way off base figures about the dangers to children. The moral panic was media driven for ratings.

This is what started this panic. A TV movie dramatization from 1983. At this point current parents largely weren't born yet so they don't even know how it started, they've just been raised into believing this is normal. It's not normal.

You are the horse.

Warping is throwing an anchor either manually for a small ship or by rowing the anchor out and dropping it farther away for a larger ship. Then the ship would reel it to change position. Good for maneuvering in harbor. Etymologically related to "throwing" and essentially threading a needle across the sea.

Warp factor get you asses in the rowboat. Engage.

Interesting to note here: getting preteens to confusedly call Congress with threats of self harm and questions like "what is Congress" with a push notification is not the best plan

President Biden told a Democratic lawmaker and members of his Cabinet after the State of the Union address that he told Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that they will need to have a “come-to-Jesus meeting.”

Biden’s comments, captured on a hot mic as he spoke with Sen. Michael Bennet (D-Colo.) on the floor of the House chamber, came after Bennet congratulated the commander in chief on his speech and pressed him to keep pressure on Netanyahu over increasing humanitarian issues in Gaza.
