Hi there, I came here to the BIFL Lemmy out of suspicion that the reddit posts are just unlabelled marketing, and I was wondering the possibility of sourcing goods that are more to a BIFL standard? In my area, second hand goods tend to be really quite poor in quality (reselling fast fashion) or otherwise not present, and I have not inherited anything that does last. So I would apprecite advice or reccomendations for finding goods at a BIFL standard. I was also wondering if maybe there would be anyone with good advice for finding sustainable, local textile production so that I may be able to tailor what I need without having to buy from the poor selection aforementioned, does anyone know of any of this?

TL:DR I am suspicious that a lot of what is claimed as 'BIFL' has been enshittified, and would like advice on being able to search for sustainable goods for a local area (not specified because I'm hoping for advice with searching, not exactly for specific reccs)

Most people know of the disasterous launch of (Legacy) Fallout: The Frontier, but did you know about the rework which is underway? That's right, The Frontier's release is still ahead of us, and the team released a master document outlining their plans for the future early September, last year.

P.S: The rework is currently looking for chinese-american voice actors fluent in both mandarin and english for an upcoming faction, if this sounds like you, please consider applying!

So, What's the Plan? Of course I can't just sit back and wait for a community to form around me, so I've decided to make a few changes around here.

• A fresh Coat of Paint: I'm sure returning community members will have noticed that the community looks different, complete with a new icon and banner. It's not much, but it's home.
• A Little More Activity: I plan on personally increasing the community's activity through the occasional post, and a dedication to assisting and responding to any posts left by community members.
• New Featured Posts: Inspired by r/skyrimmods's "Best Mods For..." series, I will be creating featured posts, which will be pinned to the top of the community on a schedule. These will be community discussions, themed around a specific topic, which will help compile mod recommendations and conversations. Suggestions for featured posts are encouraged!

With the recent successes of Community Shaders for Skyrim, I think it's apt that I shout-out Fallout: New Vegas' very own graphics extender, New Vegas Reloaded. While unfortunately only officially available through Discord, New Vegas Reloaded is a true game changer, and is absolutely worth your attention!

With the recent happenings in the United States, the dangers of the privately owned Internet is more apparent than ever, and frankly, it's scary. And so I'd like to make a simple request to anyone who is reading this; Please use the Fediverse, just a little more.

I personally hate it when I'm stuck having to visit say, YouTube or Reddit to get information, or to entertain myself in quiet moments, and if you're reading this, the likely chance is you're the same.

All I want to ask of you is to just comment a few more times, press send on that post that you felt wasn't of enough substance to be worth anyone's time. We have such a small community compared to everywhere else, but what we do have in common is that, in the grand scheme of things, we are the early adopters. And if we take that to heart and make this space a little bigger, maybe it will be just big enough we won't have to visit walled gardens so often.
