Good question, I never actually looked into it. According to her Wikipedia page:

She established the Volant Charitable Trust in 2000, and co-founded the charity Lumos in 2005. Rowling's philanthropy centres on medical causes and supporting at-risk women and children. In 2025, Forbes estimated that Rowling's charitable giving exceeded US$200 million. She has also donated to Britain's Labour Party, and opposed Scottish independence and Brexit.

Jk Rowling. She was (I think) the only billionaire to ever debillonaire themselves without dying (i.e., she donated so much wealth to charity that she was no longer a billionaire).

But then she decided to dedicate herself to making trans people's lives miserable...

Well that's just silly

I bought a dryer and it has "AI Dry." Which I'm fairly sure is not. It's just the "sensor dry" feature that dryers have had for decades. Except I can't control the amount of heat (no "low heat" option) so it ends up being fairly useless. This is also the default option whenever the dryer turns on, so yay.

Doesn't Australia also have problems with far right nut jobs though?

Exceptions:

  • Tractors manufactured by companies with the initials "JD";
  • Cell phones whose model name starts with the letter "i"

Seems like it'd go out of date quickly

Years ago, I tried out Jellyfin (Emby at the time) and it couldn't do chromecasting with subtitles (probably fixed by now, this was a long time ago). Since I wanted to watch anime, I bought a Plex lifetime subscription instead, and I'm too lazy to switch.

And now they have all the big tech players on board! YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, and X (of course) are all happy to algorithmically lift far-right content, and let right-wing bots comment on anything to sculpt narratives.

We are fucked. I've tried talking to some of these people, and they live in an alternative reality. Discussing facts is questioning their reality, and it puts them hard on the defensive.

"The pen is mightier than the sword" and they have all the pens.
