Thanks. I couldn't figure out why my Sync was crashing all day

[–] sabreW4K3@lemmy.tf 5 points 8 months ago

Honestly, I'm inebriated and so I have no doubt that I could've been a lot more fluffy in my approach. I also see at least one spelling mistake, so that's double bubble bad by me.

Since you're not OP, I can be unabashedly honest. Anyone that has been around open-source software knows that bug reporters are as unappreciated as they come, despite being a vital cog in the system, but holy hell, there's no stamp card, you don't say I submitted ten ideas, crown me king.

There's literally a monthly Q&A where the OP could have a broader discussion about priorities and direction. There's also a whole Github repository just for discussing ideas and direction, it's the RFC one.

Anyway, I'm going back to enjoying my Saturday night.

You sound entitled as hell and most of your ideas read like stuff a project manager comes up with when trying to justify their job and I say that despite their being some good ideas in there. Anyway, it's Saturday night, surely there's better things to do than whine about the developers not implementing what you want?

My Pixel can't even merge calls or tell me that the person I'm ringing is on the phone, but they wanna add this shit?

No one actually believes that Tumblr will implement AP

Fuxake! Now I've gotta move my blog?

Good read. BlueSky basically gives people the feeling that they're in control, but actually is in control of everything. It's like a house with no electricity.

[–] sabreW4K3@lemmy.tf 4 points 8 months ago

Seems this is what I should do too

So, I tried to install this on my Raspberry Pi, only to find out it doesn't have ARM64 support, which is kind of alarming. It's a shame, but indicative of the lack of commits. I hope the project can find a new lease of life, but for now Huginn isn't a viable option for me at least.

Them turning it up would be good. Also shouldn't there be a duplicate post check built into the platform?

Everything on the left (except Tux) is terrible today and that's fine, things evolve. It would be fun to see modern versions of each of those logos though.

I was so in love with Pidgin for a while that I even made a mock-up for how to improve it. I think I still have blog posts up about it.

I tried to look this up in a search engine and got nothing back, what is this?

In my file, I have

from mutagen.id3 import ID3
tags = ID3(mp3_file)

Now if I do print(tags.keys())

It informs me that there's a TXXX:FMPS_Rating_Amarok_Score

But when I attempt to print(tags["TXXX:FMPS_Rating_Amarok_Score"])

It says there's a KeyError. What am I doing wrong?

I'm curious, if I'm subscribed to a community on an instance, why doesn't Lemmy "unlock" all of the communities on said instance. I've found that despite being subscribed to a few on an instance, my instance seems ignorant of other stuff happening on the instance.

Basically I have a Navidrome container and it's pointing at my music in a network mounted folder, what's the best way to ensure that it's always there, even after a reboot of my Pi?

I'm trying to post some stuff over at literature.cafe, but it seems it isn't federating. I checked the modlog to see if I was banned, but nothing came up. When I attempt to press over to read some stuff in the meta community, it bounces me elsewhere. Does anyone know what the issue might be?

Does anyone know of one that works on Android 14?

Nusic Replacement (www.f-droid.org)

There's a cool little app that goes through your locally hosted music, grabs the artists and then watches MusicBrainz for releases for them artists. Upon seeing a new release, it will send a notification announcing it.

Sadly the app hasn't had an update in a while and so I wondered if anyone knew of any alternatives or how to replicate it?

I'm one of those weirdos that likes to live on the bleeding edge and get anxiety when apps aren't updated to target the latest API. You know how the media tries to tell you about EV drivers getting battery anxiety, I have that but for apps being abandoned.

Anyway... I was going through App Checker this morning to see what I should be on the look out for replacements for and happened to see SoundHound hadn't been updated to target Android 14. Should that be a problem? No. But SoundHound hasn't been very good at doing its job for a while now either, so I thought frig it and double clicked the mouse. I didn't, I was on my phone, but the joke! 🫣

Anyway, two apps came up that met my criteria. Which surprised me because every time I checked before, I got the same list of music players. Anyway I completely forgot about them until a few minutes ago 😂 but soon as I remembered, I put them through their paces like a divorced army instructor.

That said, only one could emerge champion and that is Audire. It's quick and managed to find everything, even really obscure stuff. Whereas the runner up, Audile, kept reporting connection problems.

Audire only have links to Spotify and YouTube, but that's better than Shazam which only have links to Apple Music now. Audile has links to a bunch more, but that's no good if you can't even pull up search results. That said, Audire let's you Google search too. Oh and bonus, it shows the lyrics.

Anyway, both are available on IzzyOnDroid/F-Droid. Link to the one I'm recommending is included in post.

I have a NAS as my primary photo backup solution and one day someone will make a photo frame that I can point at it and it will just cycle through photos, but until that day, it's just a blackhole of memories. That said, that blackhole is important enough to me that I also back up online.

That said, given the new AI race, it's less safe than ever before and I'm seeking somewhere I can stick my photos and videos really cheaply and securely. Somewhere with pedigree that seems like it would be around in ten years. Also, someone with a modern design team so the app doesn't look like shit (preferably an open source Material You app targetting Android 14) and I can get notifications with daily memories.
