Good question, but I‘m afraid we‘re looking for a solution to a problem that S3 is not trying to solve. Blob storage solves problems such as redundancy and resiliency, effectively abstracting away the underlying storage.

That said, I would recommend hosting different instances ("clusters") of Garage S3 for that purpose. You could also use the storage type as the region name for more clarity (AFAIK a garage cluster works with a single region).

This would probably work well because Garage is so light on resources (unlike minio). I also have Garage running in a similar setup for around 2 years, with daily reads/writes… Never had an operational issue. Rock-solid stuff.

Hmm, helium would‘ve been amazing, but that‘d be an SEO nightmare. My wife told me „velimix“ sounds like a kitchen appliance. Not sure if that’s a good thing haha…

Some of you may have come across Helix - a very fast editor/IDE. Unfortunately, Helix has its own set of keybindings, modeled after Kakoune.

This was the one problem holding me back from using this excellent editor, so I soft-forked the peoject to add Vim keybindings. Now, two years later, I realize this might interest others as well, so here we go:

I‘d be happy to polish the fork - which I carefully keep up-to-date with Helix‘s master branch for now. So let me know what you think!

And yes, I‘m also looking for a more original name.

Joplin; it‘s actually more of a note-taking app with TODO functionality. If you want to sync across devices (there‘s a desktop app as well) you can select selfhosted options. Joplin is FOSS and doesn‘t collect data.
