Your's look quite evenly worn afaict. Bit less on heels. Most of the wear on my pair is only in two spots. Rest of the sole is almost as good as new.

Damn. That would become an expensive hobby if you had to buy new shoes every six months. I'm not even hiking. I just have little walks and go from place A to place B. Though I guess walking on the pavement is worse for shoes than walking on soft hike trail.

I've got myself a pair of Solovair chelsea boots about a year ago and the soles are already pretty worn out. Water gets through the sole so I probably have to resole them if possible.

The wear has been surprisingly fast. Most of the boots I've had have been cheaper price point and lasted at least few years. Do I walk wrong or are the Solovair's soles just bad? How long should the soles last?

When the solenoid releases the handle it should then weld the lock mechanism so it couldn't be tampered with.

Maybe regular pencil would contain moving parts if it was a quartz analogue pencil?

Assuming Salvator, Celebrator, and the like are masculine beers, I would imagine Salvatrix and Celebratrix are their feminine counterparts.

Finnish doesn't have umlauts. Characters ä and ö are entirely different and separate from a and o so it doesn't make sense to add the letter e signifying a-umlaut or o-umlaut when writing in Finnish. German has umlauts so it makes sense to write either ä or ae when writing in German.

I agree it's best to write Maatta if letter ä is not available. I suppose the vocal harmony makes it easy to distinguish whether a is supposed to be a or ä and if o is supposed to be o or ö.

Why would you pay for a car to not drive it but instead collect the refunds? It would be cheaper to not have a car. I think it would incentivize driving more as the premiums are low and when that causes premiums to rise higher it would disincentivize owning a car.

If you can piss six feet in the air straight up and not get wet, you get no down payment

Seems so

There seems to be many lemmy apps available. I already tried few apps though I don't even know where to find most of the others. Instead of trying every single one of them I'd like to know if there's anything similar to RIF. Here's some key features of RIF:

  • Simple. Mostly text and no complicated UI elements.
  • Information density. I can see a list of eight posts on my screen. Again, it's just text with no UI decorations.
  • One handed browsing. As I hold my phone with right hand I can easily access both linked url and comments of a post with my right thumb (buttons on right side of the screen).
  • Comment navigation. This is not as important but in larger threads it's useful to navigate between parent comments.

If there's nothing similar available, maybe these could be added to an existing implementation. I could even try to help as I am programmer, though I don't know much about mobile app development.
