Yes, you have too look at this in a future metric. Majority of sports takes time to build. The longer the event the more people get attached to it. Another aspect is that there using this to expand their brand beyond till after football is over. If the interest can continue throughout December that is good for the long term. The last and most important is TV ratings and the new contracts. With the exit of Bally and the new contract coming up there showing the bidders what there able to get advertising wise for the whole year. With multiple bidders and streaming rights fans of basketball could potentially watch the most basketball ever without cable. With ABC/ESPN, TNT, and now NBC wanting to broadcast games you could have basketball on 7 days a week. Then with streaming companies like Amazon, YouTube, Apple TV you'd be able to watch all the games. Having these good numbers is good for the contract. Notice I haven't even talked about international market.

I understand Homerism, its just sometimes it comes off as gaslighting. When its a blatant foul/or a call against you don't try to justify it, just say sometimes things dont go your way. Or even say we got away with one there when your team gets a bounce. Just like Friday it was evident that Jwill got fouled on a layup and the refs missed it, just day we got away with one instead, say it was all ball when his whole fore arm get hit before the ball.

The population of Oklahoma for 70+ years was always in the 40s, this is just based off of the overall trend of growth in the US. Since 2008, the year the Thunder moved here, the population of OKC has moved from the 40s to the 20s. Although OKC biggest employers in the energy sector have had layoffs and cut spending. The biggest rise in businesses have been in the Tech industry which have a younger demographic. The amount of Tech companies has risen and moved to OKlahoma since the Thunder have arrived.

That's exactly what the Thunder are doing now and that's the point of this new deal. We build the stadium and the Thunder are going to sign a 25 year lease.

Peoples misconception money concerning building an arena is that it's going to have an direct effect. Its not because sport franchises are businesses unto themselves. The benefit of having a sports franchise is more akin to the McDonald's effect. This effect shows that when a McDonald's builds a store more restaurants build near them. Also the stores around a McDonald's is profitable. This is based off of the foot traffic effect more people go into one spot the more businesses become successful. Having a sport franchises brings other businesses into an area and state. Young people want to be entertained, businesses want to keep young talent, businesses put their company in places that young people will stay their. Since the Thunder have come to OKC (2008) the population went from 40 to the 20s. More large companies have moved here also during this time. Having a sports franchise has helped OKC grow economically and by population.

The city proposed the new Arena not the ownership group this is a blatant lie

Throughout recorded arenas/stadiums are not made to be profitable but are used for the health and we'll being of its citizens. There more for a cultural and social wealth than to bring in money for the citizens

These comments are dumb. They are really stupid and doesn't make sense in a business world. The analogy to this, and let me explain, if you own a business and your looking for a place to relocate. Your options are a mall and a shopping center. You choose the shopping center. You, as an tenant, become the Leasee. The shopping center becomes the Leaser. You sign a lease for x amount of years. After x amount of years the shopping gets rundown from wear and tear. After the end of your lease you have options. To sign a new Lease, build your own Facilities, or move. This same process has with sport franchises, the city and facilities is what attracts said business, and the cities are considered the Leader. If the City are business wants to keep their tenants the have to provide facilities etc to keep said tenants. This shit happens to real people but they can't get this concept. Its the same as owning a house or renting an apartment, which do you prefer.

It's not a ripoff every study is done after the fact of a franchise being in the community for years. Its effects can't be measured on an economic basis because its business is limited to itself. Its value is based of a social and cultural aspect. When OKC was trying to get companies like Boeing, Amazon and other Tech companies in the medical field they were worried about coming there because they had nothing to attract youth and young people to move or come here. They were worried about Brain Drain( when Young college graduates leave an area). Since the Thunder have came in 2008 the amount of companies and population has increased to where OKC used to be in the top 40 in population to now where in the 20s. This study has been done by OKC Chamber of commerce and Oklahoma City their effect is a collateral effect and not a direct effect. There hasn't been a study of a city that hasn't had a franchise to getting one. One thing that is certain is that every place that has complained about paying for a new arena and lost a franchise always pays for a new one to get back another franchise facts.
