Although my little fun fact doesn't apply to THIS flywheel generator, I recently learned, that flywheel generators are used all over Europe to stabilise the Continental Europe Synchronous Area: They are constantly kept spinning and because of their inertia they level any voltage drops and peaks they encounter. Learning this blew my mind because I never would've thought that such a simple technology was used to stabilise our electricity grid.

Please tell me why you think Bazzite is a fork of SteamOS. They have completely different foundations: SteamOS is based on Arch while Bazzite is a variant of Fedora Atomic Desktop.

Am I missing something?

Huh? I mean... I agree that a lot of people in this thread act surprisingly hostile to you but I wasn't even referring to those people, just trying to give an answer to your question, that feels kinda underrepresented in this thread: We're all wired differently and need different forms and levels of stimulus to function properly. 🤷

Even though I am listening to podcasts almost all the time I am outside, doing groceries, commuting, running errands, I can totally get that there are people whose brains are wired differently than mine that need what you might describe as auditory monotony because listening to familiar sounds in a familiar surrounding gives then safety and is easier on their brains.

I don't find this surprising because most people need some degree of routines or rituals to function so I don't see why this human tendency to reduce complexity (see: Niklas Luhmann) wouldn't apply to what you're listening or not listening to.

This doesn't have to do anything with brain rot, just that brains work differently and need different stimuli.

I agree! The time loop was okay when I was just exploring more or less aimlessly but it got super stressful when I started finding leads I wanted to follow...

Hmm... In my opinion you can't really compare Balatro and Brotato. You're right, both games are about making numbers big but the way, they scratch that itch is completely different in my opinion.

Of course the gameplay loops are different and when you're more into the action oriented approach of Brotato, Balatro just might not be for you, but that's not my point: In my opinion in Brotato you build your character and when everything goes right you reach a point where you begin to scale and roll and become pretty much unstoppable for the rest of the run. In Balatro you have more RNG caused variance in the main gameplay loop so you might have a rounds where you barely win and rounds where you draw just the right cards and destroy the Blind.

For me, a Brotato run feels kinda more "linear" while a Balatro run has more ups and downs even when going well.

Did you, by chance, read "Children of Time" by Adrian Tchaikovsky? 😬

In addition to the other guy who answered you: Technically you don't necessarily have to reformat you hard drive to install Linux. Many installers give you the option to resize an existing drive and install Linux alongside windows.

Also according your steam library: As far as I remember you can export and import single games and you may be able to move your steamapps directory to your Linux installation but this may or may not work depending on your setup and your games. If you don't have a limited Internet connection I would recommend just re downloading the games your planning to play.

Cloud saves work fine whether on Windows or Linux.

That was my initial thought... Nice pickup line btw. Do you have more? :)

The movie mentioned turned out to be a 10 minutes long documentary:

Is plating with controller recommended? The videos look like you should aim with a mouse?

When Ant-Man grows to giant size, a breeze would blow him away.

Wait what? Is that canon? I only watched the movies. Growing in size but not increasing your mass proportionally sounds like a shitty super power because you would probably still punch like a normal human.

Well it's in the title... They were growing great but in the last days or so the leaves started wilting. They always showed some yellowing and I thought about nitrogen deficiency so I fed them with slurry but without success... Any tips?

Hey community,

this is probably very specific but I try anyway:

I am planning on building my first DIY NAS and found this motherboard BKHD 1264 NAS.

You can buy it from AliExpress under the brand name "Topton"

It ticks all the boxes and is not that expensive. The only thing that looks sub par is the cooling. I am aiming for a silent build and these small fans aren't exactly silent most of the time.

So I consider changing the heatsink to something more confidence-inspiring and relying on good case fans.

My question: Does anyone know where I can find heatsinks that might fit this mount??

Edit in April 2024 for those who are looking for this specific board:

I bought the board and it's running my homeserver now. In general it works very well, the performance is good, it is stable (no crashes or any hardware hiccups).

The biggest downside is that fan control doesn't seem to work. The board has a CPU_FAN and a SYS_FAN header, both 4 pin but both headers seem to run at full speed all the time even though BIOS offers some basic fan control settings. I don't know if this is because of my incompetence or an error in BIOS but if you're looking for a silent build with case fans, this may not be your board.
