i do thank you for your feedback though and i understand how this might have come off in bad faith. i’ll go ahead and erase this post—i have made another one that more clearly states my rhetorical goals: https://lemmy.cafe/post/12505873

lemmy wont edit the post body text for some reason so

edit:

in response to the pushback which actually was less than expected, i made a more detailed and serious meme: https://lemmy.cafe/post/12505873

one of the mods here raised the majority of the pushback, (☹️) so let me just make sure it’s clear: i definitely don’t want to see these memes banned or anything. i just think that there is room to update them to better represent the lived experience of those living under the CCP.

Woah, this wasn’t that deep—no need to be defensive! :( I’m totally with you, lmao. I’m just saying there’s a vacuum where newer, sharper memes could be developed.

And “you’re making the ‘problem’ worse”? Come on, dude, take a joke about jokes.

I might be too late to this post but what do you think about making a community, something like !exposingLLMs or !LLMexperiments, for stuff like this?

I personally come to the internet to engage with people, not AIs so much. I understand that this is important investigation that needs to be done. But it’s kind of all over my feed right now. I would much prefer this research be done by field pros, and then I can read the results in a published article or blog post.

Basically, I’m just saying I am not really a fan of [LLM name] [can/cant’t] [thing] . Again I do think it’s important research to be done, but if it could be kept to some communities one could choose to block the entire category—as well as encourage collaborative investigations within the topic.

this is how accounts who “just want to debate” come off
