Uhh? I don't agree with them that it's that big of a deal but he did a lot more than being an idiot, he tried (and almost succeeded) to kill a petition that many people dedicated months of their life to because he's a narcissist who refuses to change his opinion, and he would very clearly do it again if given the chance. I would say pitchforks are justified.

Not false at all but a big part imo is also learned, it's like if I have 10 problems, 5 of which are totally my fault, and the only one talking about the other 5 says "ALL your problems are not your fault."

It's like one person actually fully reflected their experiences back to them, but then peddled a ton of lies along with it.

I think any vegan who is at least somewhat sane would say squishing an ant is not the same as killing a cow, because one is clearly more sentient and capable of experiencing suffering than the other. Obviously you don't want to do either of them, and yes overpopulation and food waste causes us to kill enormous amounts of insects and wildlife. But I also don't advocate for increasing the human population and try to waste absolutely 0 food because I know the impact it has. Buying food locally from non-factory farms is also much better, vegan or not.

It's also true that animals consume and require MUCH more resources than just eating the plants ourselves, so even under that framing we are still doing significantly more harm because now we have to grow extra food, have space for these animals, and deal with the extra emissions from feeding/giving water/transport.

I absolutely can't support myself nor anyone else with some backyard gardening, that's definitely true. But with 2 people doing it in our leisure time, we reduced how often we have to buy any foods by about 40% by having ~8 fruit trees, 10 raised beds, and a freezer. Obviously this isn't 0 harm because we do need a fence and sometimes have to trap and release some animals, but it is possible and not infeasable to feed a neighborhood by gardening like this, and it's been done in many neighborhoods already.

You definitely can not exist without causing harm, and meat is not the ONLY negative thing to reduce, it's just the most obvious and requires the least amount of legislature to actually reduce the harm from it. If we had a much smaller amount of cows that only ate the waste, that were humanely slaughtered, I think most vegans still be sad about it but not be nearly as upset, and meat would be a special thing rather than a staple.

I'm pretty sure a lot of people legitimately do not see fish as more than objects, and I mean they never fully made the connection not that they do it intentionally.

I agree! so we should try to get locally grown food without pesticides and then people can stop coping. Somehow my family manages to grow food without it and if there's a bug we just dust it off into the grass. People who freak out over a little bug or fruit that's not totally perfect are actually part of the problem.

It's pure cope to say "I can't avoid causing suffering so me making a deliberate choice to cause MORE suffering to animals that are the same intelligence as my dog is actually fine."

I agree with you, but if you look at the video he's not pointing it down holding it weakly, he's got it pointed slightly below waist level basically ready to fire. It seems like he's not ABOUT to fire, but he's in a combat stance with the rifle and his hand position being ready and shooting in less than a second. If you hadn't been looking at him the whole time I could easily see someone thinking he had just raised his weapon and was about to shoot.

Yeah it's definitely testosterone :/ just pure monkey brain neuron activated, there's not really any thoughts besides "I am so unbelievably in love with them" until you're snapped back to reality...

[–] starelfsc2@sh.itjust.works 5 points 1 month ago

I think its just a "this was in there before so it must go back in after im done using it," since it's only when it's fully empty that changes.

All it takes is hearing stories or knowing someone personally who just gets flooded with creeps and you realize this isn't an overreaction. One of my not super close friends changed their name on Facebook because of weirdos trying to do """"light"""" stalking constantly. It seems super weird and antisocial of women until you get the full story.

I guess I'm just not reading the literal exact words they wrote, but interpreting what they likely meant was "no one (in the large pool of people I have tried dating) is looking for a meaningful relationship." It's like psychoanalzying someone after they got dumped for saying "women are evil" and saying "omg this guy is an incel!" He's venting about a negative experience, not debating that women are all trash humans. Making generalizations because you're upset doesn't make you a bad person or an incel or...

E: also sounds like you're assuming the worst of some random dude on the internet rather than just seeing him as someone who's upset or in a bad situation.

If you've never run into the situation of living somewhere that everyone seems to only care about themselves I'm glad for you, but that absolutely does happen. I'm a pretty sociable person and moving from 1 city/neighborhood to another, I want nothing to do with "many, many" women around here because they are exactly as he described, there are some cool women too definitely, but the place I used to live had a majority really cool interesting and unique people. If I wasn't lucky enough to see personally that there are a lot of women who aren't surface level, I probably would've said the same thing as he did. Which is why I said the response I would have is "man that sucks sorry you have to deal with that."

I know several Republicans who will say they love trump and everything he's doing. I say well, conservation is really important to you, and trump just cut funding to wind farms, cut tons of environmental protections, cut regulations for pollution, isn't this against everything you stand for? And they say "well nobody's perfect."

Then they say rfk is going to fix our country's health! and I say he is anti vax this is the foundation he funds to create anti vax propaganda, haven't you been pushing for vaccines your whole life? And they say well I don't think he's really going to do that.

And then they say trump is going to fix the border and I say "weren't you saying for years the problem is illegals and that we should protect refugees? Trump just canceled flights for 1500 refugees who would have been totally legal to be here" and they say well I don't know. 1 day later they're back to saying trump and rfk are great.

I don't think they are faking these beliefs, it's just as soon as a republican does it they choose to not see it. I can understand looking the other way for 1 or 2 things, but when 10+ go against their core values in the course of 3 days... it's just really disappointing to see them value "their guy" over the work they've done for their whole lives.

I can't seem to get freestyle gunz to connect. To note, the launcher downloads everything fine, and the game launches fine (I have to launch using the launcher.exe rather than gunz.exe or the game won't start), but it just gets stuck on "Connecting" and then the game says there was an error connecting to the server. I have followed this tutorial: https://freestylersworld.com/showthread.php?126443-Tutorial-How-to-run-Freestyle-Gunz-on-Ubuntu-with-Lutris and setting lutrus to use any proton version or wine version besides 9.21 I had the same issue of getting to the login page, entering my information, and it says "connecting... 2nd attempt.... 3rd attempt..." and then says failed to connect to server.

Only very old proton versions (<5) fail to launch the game at all. If I run wine cmd then ping google.com I get a regular response. Stable, Staging, and development 9.21 versions of Wine would not launch the game after clicking start on the launcher, and with the lutris configuration running wine 9.21 gives this error: 02bc:err:seh:NtRaiseException Unhandled exception code c0000409 flags 1 addr 0x744b63, but running wine 9.21 with a new configuration and installing those libraries using winetricks hangs after these lines: 02c0:fixme:ntdll:NtQuerySystemInformation info_class SYSTEM_FIRMWARE_TABLE_INFORMATION action 0

I have tried running the game through steam's compatibility settings, going from top to bottom until the game no longer launched, and all had the same issue of not being able to connect, but everything else working fine. I also tried running the installer with proton, and had the same issue of not being able to connect. I tried using winetricks without lutris to install msxml3,4, 6, and xmlite, and had the same issue of the game not launching using 9.21 wine and the game launching but not connecting on earlier versions. I found another reddit thread here: https://www.reddit.com/r/gunz/comments/1dwkgjq/how_to_run_gunz_the_duel_on_linux/ with someone who seems to have a similar issue of not being able to connect, but no solution.

Something maybe of note: winetricks complains I'm using a 64bit wine prefix and installing 32 bit libraries when I install msxml, but the launcher is 64 bit and the game itself is 32 bit and uses these 32 bit libraries.

I'm just running ethernet, only things that show up on ifconfig are enp5s0 (my ethernet) and lo
