In the 1930s a large majority of the german people wanted Hitler to lead them. That didn't mean that the german jews or gays or the poles or anyone else deserved what happened to them.

He can't be president, and I don't see him interested in any other position.

Agreed. But you don't have to go that far to make rain and snow transparent. And radar might not be a bad idea to have on self driving cars, as long as it's not the only thing.

LiDAR can be done with different wavelengths. It should be possible to make one that can see through rain and snow.

Anyone bitten by ~~a wild~~ an animal should be treated for rabies. To wait for the animal to be tested, quickly or slowly, is just foolish. This animal could have been quarantined and observed without any danger to the bite victim.

edit: the animal needn't be wild, just as this one was not.

I don't understand why people think they should be able to vote on their special issue in this election. It's an election for president of the US, not a referendum on Gaza. Yes, lots of us want to stop the genocide - it's just not on this ballot.

If we elect Harris we can continue to work effectively in support of all sorts of causes. If we elect Trump it's all over. We can continue to work, but not effectively.

I don't agree that it worked. Regular folk in the US have a modicum of rights now, none of which can be attributed to the revolution.

I mean, Kamala runs the senate. They really don't have any option to try the same scheme again. I do worry though, what new tricks they might try.

You can only achieve a fair and civil society through fairness and civility. That is what (most of) the democrats have been working on for the last 50 years.

It's always tempting to think that you could "defeat" evil through violence, repression, suppression, and exclusion. Instead, you only become it.

edit: I really don't mean to lecture here. I wrote this because I saw myself in the comment I replied to, and I needed to remind myself to be kind.

His disdain for NASA's caution is obvious.

What a dumbass. If we send people in the quickest possible way (or any way at all, really) and they all die in the attempt, that will set the whole project back decades.

The answer to the radiation problem is better shielding, not a fundamentally unsafe mission.

btw it is not the nuclear propulsion that I'm calling unsafe. It is the idea that we could do without redundancy. That's just a monumentally stupid idea.

Meet PublicSq., the ‘anti-woke’ marketplace backed by Donald Trump Jr.

Thanks so much to all of you for creating this community and for bringing it to the fediverse!

And oh yeah, Ahrrrr!

My instance has downvoting enabled, but I've learned that some other instances do not. Do the vote totals look different to users on different instances? It seems like some users on instances that don't allow downvoting are unaware that it's not the same lemmy-wide. It would be pretty confusing for them to see their vote go down.
