Was just looking at the MVP races and wow, it got me thinking. Is this the most stacked the NBAs ever been when it’s said and done. Now I know the Bird, Magic, Jordan 80s exist or the late 90s but when it’s all said and done I genuinely believe this might be the most stacked era of all time.
And 2 reasons, conveniently lining up
International talent settling in and modern medicine keeping everyone from retiring. You have an uncanny amount of top 10 talents ever and multiple future top 20s across the board.
I mean The Best of the 2010s are still here with Steph, Durant, Kawhi, and Lebron. Giannis and Luka absolutely breaking metrics. And a new highest offensive seasons by Jokic. With a potential great in Wembanyama. A bit more lackluster now but former historically notable MVPs in Harden Westbrook, best handles ever in Kyrie. Lotta young potential perennial greats in Tatum, Anthony Edwards, SGA, Halliburton, maybe Zion. Joel is up there too. Lebrons already top 2 before his career finished but you have a top 10 in Steph. Potential top 10s in Luka, Giannis, Jokic. Potential top 15 in Durant, A bunch of top 20s-30s if they get a chip like Westbrook, Lillard, Harden, all of them historically great in all time stats. And maybe Cp3. Fully realized Wembanyama has all the makings of a goat.
International players are finally settling into this league. Before guys like Dirk, the NBA was a USA league. There’s a huge ass cultural change now and the game finally feels more and more international every year. Lebron is breaking the standards for how old a player can play and Durant/Curry is following the trendsetter and playing for longetivity into a whole nother era. They should’ve been long retired but just having them here getting better every year is really what makes the talent pool crazy. Think it’s just telling that there’s been no qualms of a dynasty. There’s no Spurs, Warriors, Lakers, Bulls. It’s competitive. The superteam era is over with the egregious amount of talents. Every Batman’s got a has-been top 10 talent.
Obviously we don’t know til we get there but is this era in the makings to be the most stacked ever?
