Have you measured speed when you were still there locally?
Also lots of hops in-between the endpoints will likely degrade your throughput.

Car free is a massive QoL downgrade personally. Wasting time waiting for pub transport, inefficient routes. And all the smokers and crazy people
They’re expensive and the only culture they offer is capitalism.

Most of US cities are not walkable, on top of being prohibitively expensive.
