This community is going to have ample content for the next four years (and hopefully only four years). Even if this story itself is likely bullshit.

With the Republicans holding all 3 branches of government?

There's an outside chance that they lose the House. I wouldn't bet on it, but there is a chance.

He honestly doesn't look happy at all about winning. The guy isn't really capable of being happy anyway, but he looks even more miserable than usual.

I hate Vance and he’d be a terrible President, but he also was firmly anti-Trump before, and only became a Trump sycophant for political reasons.

He's Peter Thiel's property, so he'll do whatever he tells him to do. And Thiel is a weird, evil and intelligent man. A Vance presidency would probably be less insane and more calculating (for better and for worse) than Trump at least.

but I am just no sure if JD wouldn’t make everything worse if he got hold of the reins?

Honestly, it feels like the only hope is that things get bad enough for enough Trump supporters (and non-voters) to wake up to reality. And since Vance himself doesn't seem to have the moron-whisperer charisma that Trump has, they may be more willing to turn on him.

and other department is a bunch of guys in a half ton truck with buckets of water.

More like a bunch of guys actively pouring fuel on the fire while calling fire itself a "liberal hoax".

Perplexica is one example. I also seem to remember there is some way to integrate it with SearxNG which is a self hosted meta search engine.

I'm going to have to try the selfhosted variants now. What a huge piece of shit.

  • FPTP voting system

  • Voting isn't compulsory so a lot depends upon on riling up your base

  • Voting is on a Tuesday instead of a weekend (or a public holiday)

  • Political parties draw up the electoral boundaries instead of an independent body

  • The absurdly long leadup to an election

  • The amount of money thrown around

It's plausible that it could be a clear win for either candidate. But yeah, a long, dragged out counting process is also quite probable.

This is a rock concert not a bleeding... splish splash show.

Don't forget the climate. And that will have far greater long term effects to humanity than anything else.

Nvidia hope to include their open source kernel driver in the stock kernel in the future. This would mean no more need to make sure that Nvidia driver modules are in sync with the running kernel. And is hopefully a good sign for future open sourcing of the various parts of the driver as a whole.

In Albuquerque NM, they not only built world class BRT infrastructure -- they leveraged it to transform old Route 66 into a safer, more people-friendly corridor. Albuquerque Rapid Transit, or ART, is already a big ridership success, but there's so much more potential. So today we're taking a tour of the US's only Gold-rated BRT infrastructure and learning about urbanism in Albuquerque along the way.
