I did say every structure through inference. You are still disagreeing with me. If you can't see it, so be it. I'm Audi

not necessarily. I know far too many intelligent people who are hard-line conservatives. it's just a lack of empathy, world experience, stubborn ignorance, or some combination of the above. Although, I do concede that the overwhelming majority of the populous that is uneducated is Republican and this is entirely my anecdotal perspective.

Drives me a ~~little~~ fewer crazy

fixed it!

No, in your list only religious people...

You started off your comment by saying no. This indicates a negative position. Since you responded to my comment, I can only assume you are taking a negative position against my comment.

Then you followed that position up with anecdotal evidence, not responding to the key position I maintain; that this is not unique to religion, but every structure in which power and positions of authority exist. If it exists, it can be corrupted. Again, modus operandi, does not matter, since that is inherently a key part of my position.

If you were just commenting a personal experience, then why did you start off with, "No"? What is your position in this debate? Because, I am finding myself further, and further lost.

if you can count it, it's fewer. if you can't, it's less. e.g. i need less voltage and fewer capacitors for my project.

crazy how many people miss that.

I'm sorry, I thought we were interjecting personal experience as conjecture.

In direct response to your original comment, you have proven my point exactly. People who were in a position of power/authority abused it. It doesn't matter what the modus operandi is when the fundamental consequence is the same. People want power, people get it, people abuse it. It's not inherently unique to any one thing in humanity, it's ubiquitous.

What role did religion play when my sisters ex partner, who was an atheist, beat the shit out of her and raped her? Please explain, as my life experiences are clearly limited.

And I'm like, "Huh, I figured pirating was gonna weigh something but that seems a little much"

[–] waddle_dee@lemmy.world -2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Honestly, that's it in a nutshell. The complete lack of human empathy is the issue. Whatever tools are available for someone to take advantage of, will be. Humans are animals. We like to act like we're some superior species, advanced so far, but in the grand scheme of the universe and knowledge, we're so young. We know absolutely nothing. The arrogance of humanity.

Can't miss out if you dedicate yourself to all the religions!

Religion, government, business, a non profit, it doesn't matter what it is, people will assume a position of authority in whatever power structure that has space, and corrupt it. It's not unique to religion. It's only because religion has been corrupted by people desiring power, that people hate religion. But in that same vein, the fight should be about dismantling power structures and creating equality. Which, would be in line with some religions, ironically.

Afternoon, y'all! It's been a week since I took the plunge into Graphene OS. I wanted to present my thoughts as a free flowing dialogue and hopefully encourage others to delve into the joy that is GOS.

So, I started using the web-based installer. I have Debian 13 and Chromium, so I didn't need any extra steps. Unlocking the bootloader was a blast of nostalgia to me. Brought me right back to the days of bouncing between AOKP and CyanMod. The installation process was honestly easier than anything I could have imagined. I booted up into GOS and locked everything back up and I was ready to go.

Beforehand, I had backed up all my app settings, and since I was already using FOSS apps it was relatively painless. I spent the next couple hours installing everything and importing settings. I'm using the fossify apps in place of the standard AOSP apps GOS provides. I have no idea if this will fuck me over, but I'm willing to find out. I ended up losing some SMS messages as the backup file corrupted, but I'm not that brokenhearted about it. But I went to bed at about 02.00 happy with my new phone.

Throughout my daily use, I noticed something peculiar. I was using my phone less and less. Inherently, becoming less reliant over time. It forced me to use my computer increasingly for things such as banking and social media.

Quick side note: I had Instagram installed and sandboxed, but it was killing my battery, so now I just use the website, which is actually kinda nice.

But the thing that stood out to me most was, I was using the phone for it's intended purpose; telecommunications. I chatted with people, answered some e-mails, did some daily games, browsed Lemmy a bit. But my screen time was significantly less. I read more, I'm more intentional about tasks and hobbies. It seems I had signicantly more damage to my brain from doomscrolling, than I had previously thought.

Overall, it made me feel like my phone, was my phone. I've not worried a bit about my privacy, I've been able to live in ease and a lot happier. I also use cash and interact with people more and more, because there's more personal connection in transactions and interactions now. (Why do so many businesses have an app?) I highly recommend it. The joy, the freedom 🇺🇲🦅🍔🛣️🛢️🏈, and the comfort is something I'll never give back. GOS for life, now.

Thank for reading my, probably, incongruent thoughts about GOS. I appreciate this community and the folks around Lemmy for helping and encouraging me. This place has been a nice reprieve from the waking nightmare of the current state of the world. I'm sorry if I didn't get to your comment on my previous post. I didn't expect it to blow up the way it did. I really appreciate it and I'm gonna hang around and see if I can also help and encourage folks.

Peace and cheers, with all my love.

Good afternoon, y'all!

I have decided to take the plunge and switch over to Graphene OS. Is there anything I need to know before I use the web installer? I'm a bit bummed about having to set up all my apps again, but I'm exporting all my settings, thanks FOSS apps! to help with the transition. Most of my data is fully backed up through Nextcloud, so I'll be able to just jump straight in with my photos and data.

So yeah, any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated before I go through with it tonight. Thanks, y'all and again, I love being a part of the Lemmy community.

So, I've been having issues with voice chat on Discord and I'm looking for alternatives. In my search, I came across Mumble, here. Does anyone here have experience, or information regarding Mumble, or a better alternative to Discord with better latency? Is it relatively easy to set up? Is it safe? Any advice and help is greatly appreciated.
