What is the "National Basketball Association" doing about Domestic Violence? I would hope the same thing the IRS is doing about someone's cancer, leaving it up to the proper authority! The NBA is not the legal system and should do what it does best, which is regulate their league. Period.
We have this thing called the criminal justice system in the US that is designed specifically for these types of issues. If someone alleges you committed a crime, they call the police, file a report and the District Attorney looks at evidence and decides whether there's a legal case against the defendant to file criminal charges. Then you go before a jury and make your case and you either are acquitted or go to jail. Voila! No sports association needed.
When did we start expecting sporting associations to become surrogates for the criminal justice system? Who thought that was a good idea? Not to disagree with the esteemed professor Barkley, but I'm of the mind that the group created to regulate a basketball league for profit with a public brand to protect is probably not the best group to take the place of the criminal justice system. Just a thought.
