I can speak to my experience in the Midwest during the 2010s. Had to read it in 8th grade.

Rather than enjoy something real, why not enjoy a video of someone else doing it? 🤣

I get the distance part, and I fully agree. I should not be able to hear your car from that far.

I’d argue that in order for it to sound good, it shouldn’t be deafeningly loud. You need to be able to hear it some, but not enough that people 2 blocks down from you can hear.
