Share songs that are a true BLISS to hear on the Sennheiser HD 800 S.

Something that takes full advantage of the headphone's unique qualities.

Thanks!

I've seen a LOT of recommendations for the Simgot EM6L lately, and honestly wondering if I'm missing something. Don't get me wrong, they're good, but I think they're technically outclassed by the S12 and Hexa, and I find the EW200 more satisfying because of the kick in the bass. I do appreciate how smooth they are, but the Hexa is even smoother. What has your experience been?

I would imagine most that enter this hobby would would naturally start with highly rec'd products, which tend to be safe in their tunings, then you get bored and want something more and more special in its presentation. Ever since getting a qudelix 5k, i have effectively done the opposite.

I used to think i wanted more bass and was obsessed with soundstage, which would naturally lead me products that were U or V shaped. Once i got my dream iem, the audeze LCDi4, i was confident that i would tweak upon tweak multiple target curves, in a endless quest to get that WOW factor. But its done the exact opposite. I have "regressed" as close to what i perceive as neutral without any special sauce or euphoric presentation to speak of.

Everytime i go back to a older EQ file, i think that it sounds better, because of its more engaging spacial and bass presentation, but when i turn back to something like IEF2023N, I realise that i can't deal with the colouration compared to neutral. It feels like im listening to the headphones play more of their own version of the album, which i cant get over anymore despite missing the engagement of even a slight bass boost.

Every time i progress my EQ file, its only to get less and less colouration out of my music. Granted even crinacles or super reviews neutral reference targets are more coloured than DF. But I suspect neither of them would subjectively prefer to listen a product that has exact adherence to such a tuning. Even they need some kind of differentiating factor from their playback.

Do you think im wrong and favouring neutrality at almost all cost its a standard progression in audio maturity? Did this happen to you? Or did get into this hobby to have more exotic experiences from your music?

For those who play video games using audiophile headphones, what games have you found really allow the quality of your headphones to shine through? Can be competitive multiplayer or immersive single player. For me personally, I haven't played Hellblade or many horror games on my headphones, but I can only imagine how great they would sound if I did.

Also, whats your preference? Open back for immersion? Closed back with ANC for total isolation? I guess it depends on how much background noise there is, but still.

Hello fellow Maxwell owners and to other peeps please show this post to Maxwell owners.

I am on my 2nd pair of Maxwells after returning the first pair last week. Both have the same issue and fault.

The fault is to do with the USBc port on the Maxwells, when using the Maxwells in USBc wired only mode they will disconnect with normal movement as in head movement or just knocking/wiggling the cable. I will say my 2nd pair is much more tolerant but still suffers this issue the 1st pair was way more sensitive.

I have used multiple different devices at this point a computer, laptop, phone and used multitude of cables and cable combinations including USB 4 20gbs cable.

Steps to recreate the fault, monitor the headest in Audeze software do not have the dongle plugged in or bluetooth device connected;

  1. Plug USBc into computer
  2. Plug USBc into headset
  3. Simply wiggle or move the cable like you would with normal use

I just want to say I am aware of other QC issues with the Maxwells I have yet to deal with them this USBc issue is the only one I have had and I only discovered it after a week of using my 1st pair of my Maxwells when I wanted to charge them.

The maxwells are the best headset I have ever owned and I don't really plan to ever use them wired and this issue does not seem to effect the 3.5mm port so this fault isn't a huge issue its just major dissappointment to what is one of the best headsets I have ever owned. I also suspect given I have recieved 2 pairs with this issue its might be somewhat uncommon and unnoticed given I imagine most people leave the dongle plugged in when they plug in the USBc to charge.

Here is a link I sent to Audeze support showcasing the issue with 1st pair - https://drive.google.com/file/d/1BvN4nmlnfZ10XTeqxhXvxP7yVRNonQXU/view?usp=sharing

Hi, I have recently got a pair of Sennheiser HD 650 to use for music production.

The sound is GREAT, my problem is that they make my ears hot very quickly. After 30-60 minutes I have to take them off because of this. I have already reduced the clamp force bending the metal as showed in some youtube videos, which helped to make them more comfortable. Still the heat problem remains (and it is winter here, I imagine it would be worse in summer).

I have also a pair of Beyerdynamic DT 770 pro, I can wear them for hours without noticing.

I am considering to sending back the Sennheiser....or do you guys have any solution for this heat issue? I am sad because I like the sound of HD 650 more than Beyerdynamic 770 pro.

Hey audiophiles, I'm seeking advice on the compatibility of my Behringer HA 400 headphone amp, which has an output impedance of approximately 80Ω and a max output level of around 40mW in 100Ω, with my DT 990 Pro headphones that have an impedance of 250Ω. I'm concerned about potential damage – can anyone shed light on whether this setup is safe to use or if it poses a risk to my headphones? Thanks in advance for your expertise!

Has anyone here tried the over-ear Koss R80? I’ve seen it said that it’s 60ohm and “sounds like the Porta Pro” so I’m wondering if it is literally the Porta Pro drivers in an over-ear, which I’d kinda love to try

Ive had multiple iem's that all have gotten more quiet on the left side after only a couple months of use and my sennheiser HD560s also suffer from this problem.

I had my ears examined and they are fine and yes i flipped the headphones around aswell and its 100% the left side thats more quiet.

I live in EU, and the temps are currently ab. -3°C [26°F], and I'm wondering if the 99 Classics can be damaged by cold weather. I'm mostly worried about the fake leather headband and wooden earcups.

I'd like to add that I'm wearing them only when the weather is clear, everytime it's raining/snowing I put them away.

As post said, I'm tired of swapping them out so often. I'm not running over them with an office chair, but it's getting annoying at the quality I've received recently. All help is appreciated.

I tried headphones from $70 (SHP9500) all the way to $300 (Sundara) and I can’t think the difference is justified no matter what. I have a Sennheiser G4ME ONE and when I test it against the HD6XX and Sundara I can’t see where the $200 difference is. There is definitely some difference but it’s like a $5 worth of difference if anything. It feels like everyone here repeats the same stuff and I have a feeling it’s all psychological due to expectations like “Sennheiser 6 series headphones don’t have soundstage, Fidelio x2hr large soundstage, 6xx sound different with more power even if it’s loud enough etc). I swear I was listening to the G4ME ONE for a few minutes todsy and I thought I’m listening to the HD6XX until I noticed my 6XX on the table.

Is my hearing just bad? When I compare something like HyperX Cloud headsets to a SHP9500 then yes the difference is definitely there. But as soon as It’s anything more than SHP9500 it doesn’t feel significant or even small. Of course diminishing returns but it’s too strong considering the price difference. I feel like SHP9500 could sell for $200 and people wouldn’t question them. I’m not new to headphones btw. I used the HD58x, 6XX, Sundara and SHP9500 for years and I tested them against headphones in their price range.

Hi, all. I just got my Audeze Maxwell yesterday ( I finally gave in), and was wondering if it sounds better when used wirelessly, or wired. I've tried using it wirelessly, and wired when playing a game like Valorant, and the game sounds like it's more "bassy" when used wirelessly, like when firing. The guns sounds bassy, while it sounds more natural, or tinny while firing guns compared to wireless in Valorant. Sorry, I'm confused. I've only owned a WH-1000XM4 before. It also sounds slightly "echoey" when used wireless with the dongle. I thought that wired was supposed to sound better, but I'm not sure. That's just from what I've read online, and what people have told me. Would it be better to keep using the Audeze Maxwell wirelessly on PC, PS5, and phone, or is wired better? I'm also curious why they sound quite different. Thanks in advance.

I recently purchased the Sundara Closed to try out. Got them for $130 so I figured they were worth the try. I actually like the sound of them, but I get discomfort and some pain in my right jaw joint when wearing them. These are the heaviest headphones I’ve had (I daily drive the Sennheiser PC38X at home, and I used the SHP9500s before those, but I need closed-back for the office). The pads are nice and soft, and I tried stretching the headphones over some books for a little bit. I don’t feel like the clamp force is too high, but maybe it is. Or maybe their shape and weight puts pressure on just the right spot. Is there anything I should try before returning them? I ordered some DT 770s to compare since I’ve heard a lot of good things about them. I have IEMs, but they eventually hurt.

I recently purchased a GSP600 headset, and I was satisfied with it until I tried it out for pc gaming. I don't consider myself an audiophile, but I do appreciate having proper sound quality. When listening to audio on youtube for example, I have no complaints about the audio quality, but when I was playing an FPS game, I found it underwhelming. Compared to my previous headset, the audio isn't too clear when it comes to which direction a sound came from, and nearby gunshots + footsteps lack crisp and clear sound, they sound rather muffled. On top of that the audio in game has too high treble and bass for my liking, I figure that could be something easily solved by an amp/external sound card, but I'm a complete noob regarding this, I just don't have the experience.

If someone could dumb this down for me in layman's terms and give advice, I'd very much appreciate your wisdom.

Hey there, r/headphones, got a bit of an inquiry for you.

So, I recently got a Fosi Audio P2 Headphone amp from Amazon on Black Friday, but I've been having issues with the right socket on this amp; first the red LED in the base of the socket stopped working, and now the tube that was plugged in there seems to have burned out prematurely ( it's glowing much brighter while the unit is on ), while the tube in the other socket is still fine. I'm wondering if anyone else has experience with this company, and specifically I want to find out if I was just unlucky enough to get a lemon or if this is an experience others have had with products from this company.

I've reached out to Fosi to invoke the 24-month warranty, but I'm thinking of picking up something else as a backup just in case that falls through somehow, so if anyone has recommendations for a headphone tube amp less than $70, let me know. This is also my first tube amp, so if anyone has any recommendations for care, maintenance, and general treatment of these things, that'd be appreciated too.

Thanks in advance for your input, and let me know if you have any further questions!

Listening on an iPhone with bluetooth, which I know limits the quality. Feel free to exclude options where I wouldn’t be able to appreciate the difference anyway because of bluetooth.

Hey everyone, I was hoping to know the earpad dimensions for some headphones, especially the Sennheiser HD800 and HD800S. This being said, would anyone have access to both the external and internal dimensions for the original earpads for the HD800/HD800S?

Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Last year I was running planars like the LCD-X and Arya SM through a GSX-Mini. I also got to try out the LCD-5, 1266, Susvara, both Utopias, Meze Elites and other cans. I'm not here to say "I couldn't hear a difference" because honestly I thought all of those headphones had some really good things and were impressive in different ways. But then my job changed and I couldn't listen to my desktop setup.

I changed over to the Symphonium Helios and tried a bunch of DAC's. The BTR7, the Questyle M15, and the Quedelix 5K. The 5K was my favorite by a considerable margin on the dac side. All in all, the sound is not as good in my opinion compared to the desktop setup, but I'd say it's 85% there and has many of the qualities of what I think of as Hi-Fi sound. Moreover, I can listen to way more music now that it's all portable. I probably get to enjoy these at least twice as much as I got to enjoy my desktop setup.

I don't really have a point to make with this post. About 4 months into the switch to a good IEM and I'm really enjoying it. I could've kept my desktop setup, but I got to the point where I could only really enjoy it once a week. If you're desktop-only then it might be worth expanding into IEMs?

Hi all,

I recently picked up a pair of Focal Elegias and have noticed a small issue that I haven't yet encountered with other headphones. They sound fantastic, but I think the earpad is too thick, and as such, the distance from the speaker to my ear is not optimal.

I hope this is making sense to someone lol. I am female and most reviewers I can find are male (big head ass), so I can't find anything about this issue... any other small-headed folks ever had similar issues?? When I push on the sides of the headphone they sound a LOT better, I almost want to put something around my head so that they will stay in that position...

(As an example, I also have the Beyer DT 700s which have a softer pad, no issue)

Justo ordered a pair of Chu 2 and a set of spring eartips. What are your thoughts about this iem?

Hello, I have decided to change the DAC to test what people say that the Fiio k7 sounds better than the sound blasterX G6. And what I have found is that the difference in price and functions do not justify the price. The g6 sounds in detail the same as the fiio k7. At the soundstage level, I find the g6 wider (direct mode on soundblaster). The two DACs are equalized through Equalizer APO with the oratory1990 curve. Also, I have them connected to the PC so, when I turn off the PC, I have to turn off the fiio as well. I also watch movies on my OLED 42 C2 and listen to them through the SPDIF input of each card. I see that sound blaster has many more practical functions such as automatic shutdown, being able to decode through SPDIF DOLBY, and being able to listen to both SPDIF and the PC at the same time. I don't know if I have something configured wrong or something but I prefer the sound blasterx g6.

In addition, I have the fiio k7 connected by balanced cable to the balanced output.

Sorry for my bad english ;(
