I have a schiit stack, magni + /modi+/ loki. Will This be enough to run hd800s well? Would it be a waste to run these headphones without a higher quality setup?

these are most of them, a few have been given away to friends (400se, akg361…) and a few are never used (pioneer 10s, blue ella…)

the only pair i never use are the ollo, they aren’t circumaural and they clamp so i can barely get through 3 songs before i’m snatching them off.

keepers tho, i like the look 🥹

I have a tcl 65” 4k Tv. I currently use Phillips shp9500 with it, and just plug it into the tv directly. Seems to work alright, and in terms of volume it is enough to make you go deaf if you turn it all the way up(anything above like 30% is unbearable to me, and I never go above 20% for actual usage, but majority of time it is kept at 10-15%).

But people always talk about amps and dac, but I am rather clueless. I know people say that you should use an amp with k702 because although it doesn’t have much ohms it is very inefficient. And that the quality or tone of the amp/dac can have a big effect, especially on such an odd set of headphones with such wide soundstage(mind you while I understand the concept of soundstage somewhat, I have no clue or ability to decipher if the soundstage on it is working the way it should, as I am a noob).

So, I am just trying to understand what I should do here. My k702 come today in the mail. I am not an audiophile so I will not be able to tell if it is getting all it can out of the tv besides how loud it is. So if I decide to go the route of buying dedicated parts… how would I go about using these headphones with the tv in the most reasonable way? I have heard apple dongle is not a good pair with these headphones, although I don’t even understand what apple dongle is, I just constantly see it in posts like these when I google/reddit search this topic. But in my searching I cannot find anything really about plugging headphones into a tv that I understand, so making this post. I’ve been reading about this stuff for days now, and get the general concept of some of it, but I just feel lost on what I should actually buy to use this with a tv, and how necessary it is if the volume from plugging it into the tv is loud enough for me.

From what I understand they stealth revised the cca cra and its sound signature is not as good anymore. Any way to know if you're getting the pre-revised version if you buy it on Amazon for example?

Hi

I have Senns Momentum M2 and I love them. I received them broken in transit around 5 years, fixed them and since used.

Now that I've replaced battery and earpads with new replacements I'm wondering if there's room for replacing internal electronics with something newer, that would have support for latest BT features and codecs.

I'm thinking about either salvaging electronics from some other less premium headphones or getting a DIY module. Would it be possible to retain ANC functionality somehow?

it says under the scrim. Does this mean I have to lift the inner padding which uses glue. Is there any alternative method through the app or something to get the number.

My current g pro x mic is very old and dirty and I’m buying a replacement. Do you guys think I can trust this ?

Just listened to this week's edition of the 20k podcast - featuring headphone expert Lauren Dragan who speaks about her review process and provides some (to me) useful insights. Worth a listen. The show's blurb is as follows:

The world of headphones is a deep rabbit hole. With thousands of options and endless technical jargon, it’s hard to know which factors really matter, and which ones are just marketing gimmicks. In this episode, we cut through all of the gobbledygook, and break down the ins and outs of headphones to help you find your perfect pair. Featuring Wirecutter’s resident headphone expert Lauren Dragan.

I've discovered light and portable headphones this year and I have been really digging the KPH40X! Can't beat that zero clamp comfort. I usually EQ up the sub bass a bit. I've been searching around to see what else exists that is low clamp, light and portable. I ended up also getting a Sennheiser PX100-II and they are a bit darker than the KPH40X and have more bass. I picked up some KPH30i as well but they have really strong clamp. I wondered what a vintage pair of equivalent from Sony would sound like so I ordered some used MDR-20!

Do you know of any other headphones like these that sound good?

I just thought of something.

IEM's have so much bass impact, especially deep bass impact.

I wondered what a 10mm IEM dynamic driver equivalent would be in headphones to achieve the same sound? 100mm??

IEM's create a better isolation seal and are way in there in your ear canal so maybe comparing them to over 100mm headphone drivers is more accurate.

edit: 10mm dynamic driver size was just chosen from a popular IEM the Blon. It's also used in my KZ ZS10 Pro I assume it's a pretty common size.

I just upgraded to the Sony XM4 headphones, and have to say overall, I am disappointed. I moved from a pair of Bose QC35 which I think had better noise cancelling than the Sony.

My questions:

  1. While listening to podcasts or any content that is more spoken word vs music, the noise cancelling is pretty poor. I've already toggled all the settings, gone thru the troubleshooting steps mentioned on Reddit threads as well, but it never improves. Is this others experience as well?

  2. When I have the headset on music playing and I'm on the train, it feels like people are far away but their voice is amplified and they sound louder. But when I take the headphones off, it's at best a conversation at a normal volume. Is there some setting that's doing that or do I have a dodgy headset?

Does anyone know if I’m supposed to plug in the KZ ZS10 Pros to something other than the PC? Sound is very crackly and high pitch when plugged straight into the PC.

Begginer here: and when I say expensive I mean 150$. I don't know if it's worth it to put it all in one iem (ie200) them I have +2 year warranty and maybe upgrade the accessories along the way

Or-

Just buying an ultracheap chifi (10-20$) and just switch them out when they break

Is the quality and sound of an expensive pair worth the money? Also what if for some reason I'll just stop liking how they sound?

I need some help to see if I need to tune EQ a bit better, or what else could I be doing wrong.

My car has a Fender audio system, which doesn’t seem to be in the super high end, but still is great, because it seems tuned to reproduce best the type of music I listen to (Rock, Metal, Classic, some Latin, etc.) It sounds REALLY good. I’ve setup the EQ to +2 bass, 0 mid, +3 treble. I listen using Bluetooth from my iPhone. Now, my home theater system is a Sony 5.1 surround system (don’t remember the model), tuned to the room is on and set to reproduce at whatever DTS or Dolby sound is being sent to it without modification. I listen from my Apple TV, or from Audio DVDs (yes, DVDs recorded with DTS or Dolby Sound from recording masters). The home theater makes a very good job at producing a rich sound and sound similar to my car setup (a bit better, actually). Now, onto my problem: I can’t get my Sennheiser Momentum 3 to reproduce sound anywhere close to what I get from my car audio or HT! Yes, I know that you move quite a lot more air with large speakers, BUT my Apple AirPods Pro do a much better job of reproducing the GENERAL feeling of the sound I like than the Sennheisers do. I definitely can hear some details much better in the Sennheisers than in my EarPods, BUT at the same time, I loose a whole other range… is crazy. I’ve tried several EQ settings. The same ones I have in my car, other, recommended ones, the “smart EQ” from Sennheiser, which turned out to be absolute crap… Also tried leaving them with no EQ, but they sound horrible like that, as if you were hearing music through a muffling cloth. Somehow they seem to lack A LOT of response across different frequencies. My Sony MDR-V6s do suffer from a similar lack of power, but have a lot better response. In general is not just the lack of power and response, is as if the Sennheisers were tuned to frequencies that are horrible for my music. (I listen to lossless files, btw) Now I’m thinking maybe I should try the Apple AirPods Max, or the B&W PX8, but I know they have their own limitations and I’m afraid that they will also have a very poor sound… Some other data: I leave the iTunes EQ in neutral, stream or play at the highest available quality and codec, and have also compared the sound to my B&O speakers, my HK Speakers, and even Sony WH1000XM3 headphones to get a wide range of comparison.

Any recommendations on how to fix the Sennheiser’s sound, or what to replace them with?

Hello! I’m about to buy a new pair of headphones and I would like to know which of these three models you recommend:

https://www.sony.com.mx/electronics/diadema-auriculares/wh-1000xm4

  • Bose quietcomfort SE

https://www.bose.mx/es_mx/support/products/bose_headphones_support/bose_around_ear_headphones_support/quietcomfort-headphones-se.html

Or if you could recommend others that are in that price range I would appreciate it.

First of all dont be fooled by how fancy the product looks, IT IS TRAHS; DON*T WORK FOR CHIT!

First, no buttons, now for an advanced tehnological product a NO button should be a good thing, for TRASH; a button should exist, makes life easy.

Second, you need to apparently charge both ear pieces and box at different times. Thus, first you chrge the box which will take forever, then the box once charged you charge the headphones. The earplugs will stop turning orange once they fully charged "randomly". If it works for 5 minutes consider yourself lucky

It connects randomly, so you take them off the box it will supposedly connect to your bluetooth. It will connect for 25 seconds if you are lucky and then turns off. So in order for this chit to work you will have to keep putting the ear pieces back to its box and geeting them back out for it to conenct. Why aint there a button to turn on or off. NO it is SO ADVANCED TECHNOLOGICALLY. WOOOOOWWW! AMZING.

Do you think putting the ear pieces in the box and charging them together would work. HAAA NO DONT BE SILLY! It wont that if there is even a hint if the box is charging along the ear pieces or not

So save your money, dont buy this scam. I was a fool.
