Is the LCD-5 better in every aspect (except maybe price-value ratio) than LCD-X for EDM ,electro ,instrumental etc?

Why do my mangird top sound better and have a wider soundstage on my phone (one plus Nord n10 5g) compared to my schiit hel 2? I'm listening to the witcher 2 and 3 soundtrack and these tracks are just breathtaking when plugged into my phone.

Hi all, help me choose my first IEMs for gaming, movies and infrequent music listening. I've never had audiophile iem(don't know if I can call it that) and I play FPS games and in music I prefer hip hop, jazz, electronica, rock. There are a couple of good iem that I can order with fast shipping (which is important for me) - Tangzu Wan'er 25$ (heard that Wan'er are not good for FPS games because of their bass) and MoonDrop Lan 30$. Also considered buying Truthear x Crinacle Zero RED for 55$ but I don't know if these headphones are worth going out of my budget? Other suggestions would be welcome as well.

I just realized I have sweat stains on the fabric of the headband of my Focal headphones. I’ve worn them while walking on my treadmill (I know, duh!) Any recommendations on the best and safest way to clean it? I also just bought a headband cover for after I remove the stains.

Thanks.

Samsung doesnt seem to have any headphone equivalent to their galaxy buds, why do yall think that is? What are some headphones that work well with samsung phones that have alot if not all the features the buds have? Things like their "super hearing" features and what not.

Hi everyone, I have the Hifiman Arya 2nd gen. (the edition before the stealth) and the Sundara. I'm seeing wonderful offers for the Ananda Stealth and the Edition XS, so basically models that sit "in the middle" of those I have. Do you think it's worth adding one of them to my collection or it won't add anything significant? I listen to classical and jazz only. Thanks!

I am new to the headphone scene and have moondrop IEMs which to me are my start into the high end field of headphones. I came across Audeze LCD-5 which are like 4,500$ I wouldn't mind paying it but I kinda want to work my way up to them and were wondering if any similar or recommended headphones for maybe $1000? They can be open or closed back. I love hardcore techno and rap but mostly techno. Also if it isn't too much if you also have a recommendation for a AMP/DAC that can pair up with the headphones you suggest let me know!

At work I plug my Sony MDR7506 into my Behringer X1204 USB and it sounds super punchy and fun to listen to.

At home I have my Focal Clear MGs plugged into a balanced Schiit Magnius fed by a Schiit Freya+ from a dedicated DAC from a dedicated streamer. It sounds beautiful tonality wise but it doesn’t really get punchy and super deep like my budget set up at work.

Am I just falling into “loud = good” trap or “bass go brrrr” mindset? Is there a way I get get more punch out of my main system?

Don’t get me wrong I love my main rig but it doesn’t give me as much bass percussiveness and depth as I’m craving like on secondary system.

I got some of these a while back and liked them but the right bud has slowly been losing volume and it finally died today. Is this a problem with all of them or did I just get a bad pair

I play games like Valorant and cs go that need great sound sense. I don't have a lot of money so I'm looking for cheap headphones that give me a very accurate sound of where my enemy is.

I have an Soundcore Life QC30 and lately my ear pads got deteriorated. I don't want to buy new earpads because some plastics broke and in games there's no accuracy in positioning. As I haven't used them outside the house, I decided to buy a new pair that is wired, without Bluetooth. I want something with the ergonomics of Bose QC45, something durable, that has outstanding accuracy in positioning and are good also for music. I find the sound of my QC30 plain, without any separation between layers. I love to hear vocals very clearly, but also I want some bass. If I need an DAC, I prefer to invest in Fiio k5 pro, as I heard is very good. What good pair of headphones can I buy in 200-250$ range?

If you are learning to read frequency response charts, reviewing analyses done by others is really useful. I find that this makes learning easier than trying to figure it out myself.

Hence, I created this Custom GPT that will do exactly that:

You can access it here: Audio Chart Analyzer

Here's an example usage (I can't link the chat history because it contains images 😔):

Note: Currently, Custom GPT is only available to ChatGPT plus users. I'm still waiting for its API support for image upload, and I will make the tool available to everyone on Headphonesty.

With those with access, try it out. Let me know what you think of the analysis and what other aspects of the analysis will be useful. Looking forward to see what the community thinks of this.

Some two weeks ago I got a pair of Beyerdynamics DT770s. They seemed okay for a while but they developed a crackle in the right driver after two days or so, which would play no matter what audio sample. I sent them back (Amazon) and got a new pair, and these ones have a crackle/pop in the left driver; (I've only noticed this for this wiring test so far).

Should I send them back again and try again? Is beyerdynamics QC really that bad or have I just been extremely unlucky? What other closed-backs could I look into (at a similar price and frequency response)?

The headband on my 2-year-old 400se was flaking, and since I wasn't using it anyway due to the headband being a torture device, I decided to mod it lol.

I removed the old headband (irreversible) and ziptied hd600 nuggets on the metal band. The hd600 headband fits like a glove (same width as the 400se metal band). It looks kinda funny but it's better than not being used lol.

It works surprisingly well, but I might try other headbands later on since this aliexpress hd600 headband is also pretty stiff.

Per the title, for any S8 owners, in your opinion where does it stand today relative to the current market? For those that moved on, what (if any) other IEM(s) replaced the S8 for you?

i’ve heard too many mixed comments regarding powering these headphones. some people say using it with just their laptop/phone they run just fine but then other people are saying they’re completely unusable without an amp.

i don’t necessarily want to have to purchase a separate amp to use them because i plan on using them when im out and about as well.

did i just make a oopsie by buying a headset that requires too much power?

In a recent video I watched featuring DMS, he said (to simplify) that there are to types of experiences that people go after when choosing headphones. One of them being Maximum accuracy and the other a more lively and fun presentation. I don't think that these are exact solar opposites.

But I do get what he's trying to say, the problem I'm having is that a good big chunk of headphones tend to go the maximum accuracy route.
Am I wrong? For most headphones that I listened to my music (metal, hip hop, electronic) didn't really stood out as much and sounds in a way lifeless. The only headphones that could actually bring some the excitement were the focal clear.

And for this reason I have kind of started to go towards speakers, but still speakers lack intimacy that headphones could bring. Is there a way to achieve an compromise here?

I was writing a full review and suddenly realized that nobody really cares what I think.

So, instead of elaborating on it, I would just like to provide a quick summary of my side-by-side comparison of 3 IEMs. If you would like to know more or have questions about my methodology, please leave a comment below!

Fit:

S8> Variations >>>Dark Saber

Strength of the shell:

S8>>>Variations>Dark Saber

-But I would want to add on this and say Dark Saber's shell is not really "fragile" as other short reviews described in the past. It's like SE846 shell if you know what I mean. It could definitely last for years without a problem if you handle it with care.

Weight:

Dark Saber> Variations>>S8

Sound (Bass):

Variations>>Dark Saber >= S8

Sound (Mid):

S8= Dark Saber >> Variations

Sound (High):

S8 >= Dark Saber >= Variations

Detail retrieval (mainly mid-range):

Dark Saber>= S8 > Variations

Sound Stage and separation:

Dark Saber>> S8> Variations

Label:

  • >=: Every so slightly better if not the same
  • >: a noticeable difference, but not huge
  • >>: a major difference
  • >>>: a whole other level

Basically the title. I never had and amp in my life, Fidelio X3 are my first "good" phones. I wanted to know if I should buy that DAC, or other or none. Also, what am I expected to happen? Just louder music? Or some corrections (I say it and it sounds stupid because in no way it can understand what the headphones are like)? It is a portable DAC means that if using in a phone, it drains the battery a bit faster right? Same for a laptop I suppose, but if plugged in it has no impact. Also, how does it deliver the power? Is there a way to control it? Or automatic? I read about the rule of eigh, but it doesn't show anything to regulate.
