The idea is to go beyond the usual technical screening filters, and measure the fit between candidates and potential teammates. This can help up speed the hiring process and prospective employees to learn about the company beyond the standard corporate talk.

Hello Everyone!

I love reading about startups, not very much in detail, but more on what they do, the funding they've received, along with other high level details. Typically within a couple of minutes.

And, I usually keep myself updated on startup stuff through AI newsletters.

Over time, it just felt like most "news" related newsletters shared a similar format. A couple of highlights, some AI tool recommendations, other AI news, a sponsored section etc.

I then came across this newsletter that wrote about one startup, every week, and it was short and crisp, and I loved that.

This led to me writing on X, and then starting a free newsletter on the latest funded AI startups, which helps everyone understand a gist of what the startup does, along with information on their open positions etc.

Would you find this interesting?

All -

I've been glued to my desk for the past month working on something I'm super excited about - I call it Shorts Generator.

Here's the deal: It's all about turning your cool ideas into short videos, and the best part? It's quick, like really quick, thanks to some nifty AI magic.

🤔 Why I Built Shorts Generator

 • I felt the pain: Editing videos takes ages, and I just wanted to speed things up.
 • No expertise needed: I wanted anyone (yes, even my grandma) to create awesome videos without needing a tutorial.
 • Fun factor: I love playing around with creative ideas, and I wanted a tool that could keep up with my imagination.

🚀 What's it like? Imagine jotting down a video idea over coffee and having a ready-to-share video by the time you're done. That's Shorts Generator for you. It's like having a mini-director in your pocket that gets your vibe.

💬 Looking for Feedback! I'm stoked to see what you guys think. Whether you're a seasoned video pro or just someone who loves sharing stories, I'd love to hear your take on it.

Can't wait to see what you create and to make Shorts Generator even better with your input. Let's make video creation fun and effortless!

I started my career as a Software Developer and later I moved into DevOps. For the past 6 years I worked on setting up CI/CD pipelines, Azure infrastructure setup and firefighting. I found the DevOps tasks very repetitive and was getting bored and yes.. I was badly missing developing software!

A lot has changed since the time I used to write code over 6 years ago. Especially the web front-end JS frameworks have advanced quite a bit. New frameworks coming every now and then.

I decided to get back to coding and I quit my DevOps job! I spent a while learning React, NextJS, Golang, etc. and here is what I built!

https://dokemon.dev

It is a GUI for managing Docker containers on Virtual Machines. I know, I know... "everyone is moving to Kubernetes". But I am sure there are people who still use Virtual Machines, especially Indie Hackers use VPS like DigitalOcean, Linode, etc. so I hope this tool will be useful for at least some of you guys out there. If you are one of these guys, do give it a try and let me know your feedback.

NOTE: Its a BETA version so first try it out on your local machines or Dev/Test environments.

PS: If you are wondering what Dokémon means - its just a random name. I was thinking on the lines of Docker Manager and I went like DockerManager, DockMan, DocMan, Dokémon. Something sounding like Pokémon :)

EDIT: When I say Docker on Virtual Machines it includes VPS, physical machines and any place where Docker runs. What I meant is it doesn't support managing Kubernetes, Nomad, etc.

Evening all,

I'm in search of a side-project that I can get stuck into outside of my standard 9-5 job.

Primarily I am a PHP backend developer with a couple years experience now utilising Laravel.

I've also got some experience with React Native and have 2 apps published (somewhat successfully) on the app store(s).

I'm open to working on anything, something that will allow me to get stuck in during my free time in the evenings (roughly 3-4 hours and evening + weekends).

I've worked my own side projects in the passed but none have them have amounted to anything so I'm hoping to find someone, perhaps a solo developer that wants to expand on what they are working on.

Feel free to ping me a DM or leave a comment if anybody is searching for help!

Look forward to working with someone out there.

Hello everyone !

My brother and I have been developing the "Nutrition AI" app and would love some feedback so we can improve it!

We are both software developers and have been working on this in our free time, as we wanted a cheaper alternative to get nutritional advice.

How it works:

You describe your goal (lose fat, explore cuisines, lower my sugar level etc) and you get personalized:

 • Multiple daily meals & recipes
 • Detailed ingredients & nutritional facts
 • Personalized advice for the plan
 • Weekly grocery shopping list

to help you achieve your goal and stay on track.

Your plan & details can be viewed anytime in the app (or website) in organized screens.

The app uses multiple ChatGPT-4 agents behind the scenes. So a complete nutrition plan costs 3 euros. You can also change any of your personal details and re-generate the whole plan 3 more times for free. We also provide a few completely free plans as examples. You can find those in the main menu.

All plans are provided for educational purposes.

I created a simple chrome extension that lets you add airbnb rentals into a comparison table so you can see side by side the amenities, prices, number of rooms, place size, etc... across multiple places.

I started it because I was tired of having to switch between tabs when looking to find the best place. And I guess I was not the only one since I am getting new users every day without doing much promotion.

But I have no idea how to monetize it. Airbnb doesn't event have an affiliate programs and people don't really seem interested in paying for "premium" features.

Any ideas I could explore?

A few years ago, my friend asked me for advice on how to solve the problem of quickly editing a large number of photos from WhatsApp using Photoshop.

When he tried to open a photo sent to WhatsApp in Photoshop, he got an error:

Could not complete your request because a SOFn, DQT, or DHT JPEG marker is missing before a JPEG SOS marker

You can fix a file by opening it in MS Paint and resaving it. But if you have a lot of such files, this is not the most interesting task.

So I decided to create an open source and free tool that would help solve this problem.

Hello everyone,

I'm a programmer with 10 years of experience. Earlier this year, I decided to quit my job and start an online business by developing apps. So far, I have created 5 apps and 1 website, but all of them failed except for the latest one, FluentPal.

I began developing FluentPal in early August. In September, I introduced FluentPal on a local forum, and offered free usage codes for people to try. By the end of the month, I earned $2 from a one-month subscription, but the subscriber soon unsubscribed, possibly due to the app's bugs.

In October, I made significant updates to the app. As I'm not skilled in graphics, I sought advice from several designers, particularly a renowned designer and also my close friend, who consulted on the app's UI/UX. I also fixed many bugs. That month, I earned $50.

In November, I submitted the tool to an AI directory and added features like conversation creation, mistakes correction, and an AI teacher. Most importantly, I created a landing page for the app. Currently, most users prefer the unlimited package, and I have customers from Vietnam, India, Thailand, Finland, and other countries.

Lessons learned from app development:

 • Thoroughly test the app in various ways to avoid bugs that frustrate users.
 • Have a landing page to introduce the app.
 • Offer a lifetime subscription option, as about 70% of users prefer paying once over monthly payments.

As of now, after 5 months of development, the app's revenue is $388.

Hi, I'm Andy, a software engineer from the UK.

Ever been in the gym unprepared, looking around thinking "What should I do?"

Or maybe you're a beginner to working out and don't enjoy wading through online workouts that are hard to find and don't match your preferences?

My side project https://www.ai-pt.co is designed for you. It allows you to generate and manage unique workouts, tailored to your preferences.

Check out the quick demo to see how it works - it'd be great to get some feedback.

My dad is 56 years old. He's a blue-collar worker. He and my mom live here:

https://preview.redd.it/lplxc00wwi3c1.png?width=960&format=png&auto=webp&s=6e9ed291b84ad0328c5adee96f3b644bae5f94bc

Dad uses an iphone and the internet, but he's not very good with them. Also he's not great at writing (spelling and grammar). Short messages are okay, but overall, it's a bit difficult for him. He prefers sending voice messages because for him typing is tough and speaking is quicker and easier:

https://preview.redd.it/9a5rvddsbi3c1.png?width=807&format=png&auto=webp&s=cf393a78b0af768fef6c38f38fd2e36c9fee9b30

In 2023 he got caught up in all sorts of bureaucratic procedures (due to a fire incident), needing to write letters to government offices, courts, and so on. At first, my mum helped.

But then he asked me if there was a program that could turn his spoken words into written letters for different government offices.

It inspired me. I started developing it with my friends. And we made this:

https://preview.redd.it/8mn43iwhci3c1.jpg?width=1280&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6ebc6fffdb3f9d95d4fad346de4c3de53a10892c

We made it mainly for my dad. He can talk into it, and it changes his not-so-clear speech into good writing that he can send to the authorities. We also noticed he used the app to congratulate my girlfriend on her birthday. He definitely couldn't have written those messages himself, he doesn't want to seem silly :))

We've just started, and we have 500 users, and a few paid subscriptions. But we'll make the app better for not only my dad but also for other segments.

At least, I've got one loyal client :))

!If you want, you can try the app. It's called Letterly, and you can download it from the App Store: https://apps.apple.com/app/letterly-voice-to-clear-text/id6464049772!<

Top features:

 1. Import chat histories from multiple IM apps: iMessage, messenger, Whatsapp, etc
 2. Analyze the chat history and generate insights with GPT
 3. Fine-tune GPT models to mimic the way you speak, and it can be a chat typing assistant tool

What do you think about this idea and is there a market for it?

A startup had built this internal tool called Translate Channels that they used to communicate with their international team. When they ended up winding down their startup, I acquired it from them, rebuilt it from the ground up, and I've been running it the past few years.

I acquired the app for $8k when it was doing ~$250/month, and at the current monthly revenue ($919), it will do $9,480 in profit the next 12 months with little input from me. I'm still trying to figure out the best way to grow it, so I'm trying different things and seeing what works.

The app itself is super simple: just a Slack app that uses the Google Translate API to automatically translate messages based on the team's settings.

Anyone have experience growing a small SaaS product?

So, I am a software developer from Spain who enjoys creating things in my free time. In this case, I have just built an 'image to code' tool. You need to upload a screenshot of a website, and then you'll get the AI-generated code that replicates the image exactly. After that, you can copy and paste it into your existing project. This tool allows you to replicate any website you like with just a couple of screenshots.

I know this is a very saturated market but me and my friends created an online clothing-store. We are all experienced designers and all have a degree in art and design. We use our skill combined with AI to create innovative and unique designs.

We would love it if you checked it out and supported us as we are now doing a Christmas sale :)

Hey r/SideProject,

In my experience with numerous startups, I have noticed a concerning trend of below-average designs. It is time for a change. In the field of product verification, projecting a professional image is extremely important as it sets a brand apart from amateurish attempts.

Today, I am excited to introduce the outcome of months of hard work – a carefully designed product created specifically for agencies and startups. Let me present to you a Next.js boilerplate, meticulously built using Typescript. This powerful tool offers a wide range of integrations that are crucial for the success of both agencies and startups. The components and sections have been configured to meet the essential needs of these businesses.

Included in this package are essential form handlers such as Formspree for agency information management, Beehiiv for streamlined startup product verification, and Reflio for efficient referral processes. Moreover, the SEO aspect, which is vital for organic traffic, has been simplified to a one-minute configuration, ensuring that your online presence is optimized effortlessly.

The product will receive continuous updates as I am still working on it and will keep enhancing the boilerplate by adding crucial features. The most thrilling aspect will be the backend of the application.

Make sure to use the discount code "LAUNCH" before it expires in 3 months. This is your chance to purchase the boilerplate at an exclusive discounted price.

It all started when a SaaS owner asked me for a Landing Page on X.

He asked why his landing page is just getting 3-4% conversion rate, I saw the LP and I shared some tips on how to increase it such as a better modern design, a compelling copy that encourages the client to take action, etc.

Then he hired me for my services, and with just 1 week of work, the landing page resulted to double the conversion rate. =

Our SaaS is awesome! Check it out at http://thebestsaasintheworld.com/. No, we actually don't.

How realistic do you think posts like this, scattered on Reddit, are?

Why do you think people make posts like this?

For those who have submitted posts like this, what have you gained from it?

My friends and I had this idea to have chat gpt come up with a prompt and we all answer it. Then have chat gpt answer it. Then guess who the AI was. We did this manually on the site and had a ton of fun so I decided to create an app.

I spent 100s of hours on this but finally got it released on iOS and Android. It's not perfect but I haven't had a lot of "strangers" input on it, just friends and family and would love some feedback. Hope you enjoy!

It's a habit tracker app with fairly simple features, built with Flutter. Syncing to Google Drive incrementally using timestamp last synced data and offline-first mode, currently only targeting Android. It uses Google Drive application-spesific data so the app can only access this app directory only and can't access your other data.

You can try it here https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.yedev.habittrackertool
