Not once in my entire life have I ever "accidentally" unsubscribed from an email list.

A "Showerthought" is a simple term used to describe the thoughts that pop into your head while you're doing everyday things like taking a shower, driving, or just daydreaming. The most popular seem to be lighthearted clever little truths, hidden in daily life.
Here are some examples to inspire your own showerthoughts:
If you made it this far, showerthoughts is accepting new mods. This community is generally tame so its not a lot of work, but having a few more mods would help reports get addressed a little sooner.
Whats it like to be a mod? Reports just show up as messages in your Lemmy inbox, and if a different mod has already addressed the report, the message goes away and you never worry about it.
Your email service’s scanner might, because some of them go through every link and check what’s on the page.
I was going to say the same thing. The overbearing corporate email scanner at work will dutifully follow every link in any email I receive, which is why I assume there's usually a confirmation page and they don't do one-click unsubscribe links.
This same scanner will also trigger every singe tracking link in any spam email, resulting in even more spam hitting my inbox.
Gets us on the other end too as we do newsletters and other web work for small orgs, so our poor little web servers basically get DDOS’d by the scanners when we send out a newsletter with a bunch of backlinks.
