This is the type of play I dream of AI refs eliminating from the game.

Lavine clearly does give Jimmy a little shove at the very last second of his hand-check, but some combination of biomechanics/physics should be able to determine the extent of that contact and discern whether or not the contact at that moment forced Butler into a reaction that led him out of bounds.

If Jimmy doesn't go out of bounds here, no way there's a whistle. But the leg flailing is pure theatrics, without question.

Probably like 25-40 years away though from that type of AI, unlucky.

I'm not saying a human shouldn't be able to either btw, but the fact is that they do, consistently. Tennis has been much more enjoyable for me with electronic line-calling, and for such a subjectively officiated game like basketball/football/actual football,

Hell, even with technology, VAR is a disaster in the EPL. Need consistent/impartial technology for sport. The people that think the lack of officiating drama would hurt the game hurt my brain.
