The people left on the OpenAI board tried to shop the company to Anthropic. The CEO of Anthropic declined their offer.

As much money as Apple has made me, I think it better for humanity that Microsoft buy it. People complain that Microsoft is closed off. It really isn't. They pitch open standards all the time. Apple is really the closed ecosystem. Apple is where open source goes to die.
