This is something that I have thought about for awhile but I think that athletes in general have a very skewed view of what they do and their abilities. It might be that you have to be able to think this way to make it to the nba. It is such a longshot that you have to think you are capable and responsible for anything. What are some of the most out there quotes?
This is the quote that brought this idea back to my attention:
“It’s like the girlfriend that you used to have,” Brooks said of the Grizzlies this season without him. “You don’t know how good she is until she’s gone. "
-Good on Brooks for = believing in himself but I think he thinks he is A or B tier even though he has been struggling badly on offense.
An oldy but a goody :
Sprewell saying " I have a family to feed.” and turning down $21 million only to be offered $5 million exceptions, which he also turned down and basically "retired" out of the league.
that DB quote is far from one of the most delusional in the NBA. And he is definitely not struggling offensively so far.
But I don’t understand the whole scapegoat narrative when he averaged 10PPG on 39TS on wide open shots and shot the team out of the playoffs the year before vs GSW. And even after all of that, like you said, he turned down the extension.
