I've always thought that Toni Kroos was quite smart, but that he called it quits after being used as the official scapegoat for the bad performance in the World Cup 2018 and the last European Championship shows that he's a goddamn genius.

Maybe Jogi Löw saw the writing on the wall and wanted to save Müller and Hummels the embarassment to have to play with this feckless team, too by no longer nominating them.
