Example:

- Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
- Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
- No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
- Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
- No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

Skelehesgeth says:
Remember, if you’re a cis soldier, testosterone is healthcare. If you’re a trans soldier, it’s a national security threat! NYEH HEH HEH!
Nah, fuck off with this slop. Either draw skeletor, use an existing image, or badly draw it in paint. All are preferable to the shit slop image.
Fuck, even leaving the image out is preferable to this crap.
Also, Skeletor would resent being associated with that dipshit.
The AI hate is strong in this one. 💀
The image looks pretty good, tbh. Why are you saying it's slop?
This has nothing to do with that specific image, and more to do with the fact that it is AI generated. The complaint is that you should have either done the art yourself or had someone do it for you rather than let AI do it.
To be clear, I didn't post the image.
Why "should" people use Photoshop to make this image, instead of generative AI?
I'm not taking a side here, I'm just explaining what happened.
There is a great deal of worry about two things: 1, real creative people are being displaced since many no longer feel they need their services. 2, AI is not creative and cannot generate real art. It is really used only by people who cannot make art and usually cannot tell the difference.
It's AI generated and most Lemmings are enraged by AI for reasons I don't fully understand, possibly due to misinformation about its environmental costs.
The rage is wild. However, once in a while AI has its uses. I could spend a lot of time producing an image from scratch on Photoshop which used AI or get told it’s AI. I guess making images is bad unless it’s hand drawn artisan imagery. 🤷
People on Lemmy exist at a very high technical level. This place is full of people with advanced degrees in STEM.
Ok? What's your point?
That your assessment is very wrong. You may not understand the average person here or who they are.
I'm aware many people here have a lot of tech knowledge. I don't see how that proves what I wrote was wrong. Firstly because there are also a substantial number who don't fit that mold. And secondly because experts can also get caught up in groupthink and misinformation. Especially on topics outside their specific subfield.
Give up, there's really no point trying to argue on the internet with anyone that has such a smug superiority complex.
People who are into technology tend to know a little bit about a lot of things that still rises well beyond the level of the average person. You don't get onto Lemmy without having some tech ability unless someone helped you set it up.
You said:
You made a very strong set of assumptions:
The environmental cost is exaggerated
People are misinformed about it
You then failed to substantiate your claim with any argument or evidence.
