It's irritating how so many people think that nobody showed up to the games and we deserved to lose the team. It was a complete fabrication by Michael Heisley after he blatantly lied about his intentions when buying the team
In hindsight it was objectively a terrible business decision as Vancouver would go on to become one of the wealthiest cities in all of North America. Not only that but basketball is and has been wildly popular here for a decade plus
Everything about that relocation was just so, so slimy. Stu Jackson and Michael Heisley are 2 of my least favorite people of all time. Making poor draft choices and not having a great team for 6 years is not enough to warrant relocating the franchise, and I think any sane fan would agree.
I was a very sad 11 year old when they left
In the last season in Vancouver, the Grizzlies were the 27th best team in record and were 28th in attendance. I’m not gonna blame fans for not wanting to see a bad team, and I don’t want anyone to lose their team (esp. as a Kings fan!), but that doesn’t paint the fanbase as anything special.
Are you talking about the season where it was announced that they were leaving before the season opener?
So the fans should flock to the arena and give Michael Heisley their money after he blatantly lied to their faces when he said he wasnt going to move the team?
Lol, ok buddy
Sounds like we have a lot in common.
Hate David Stern.
