I do this and it works well to keep it from boiling over. But I'll talking about like 4-5 drops of oil.

Yep, also drop a hammer into the water when you boil it to break the surface tension so the sphaghetti doesn't die.

Place a wooden spoon over the top of the pot, the foam will not boil over.

Tried that, foam still boiled over. I've noticed no difference in sause adhesion.
