Here's the updated BPI ranking after the 4th week of the season. I missed last week because of a work trip, so this is an update from week 2, 14 days ago. I’ve added a number at the end to show how the ranking changed -- 0 means it didn't change, positive numbers means it rose, negative numbers means it fell.
The Oklahoma Thunder are our biggest gainer by far, jumping a remarkable 10 spots from two weeks ago. The Cavs are second best gainer, jumping 4 spots, but trailing Oklahoma’s 10 spot jump by quite a bit.
The Hawks are the biggest loser, dropping 4 spots. The Warriors, Nets, and Bulls dropped 3 spots each.
Comparing the ranking here to the ranking based purely on wins and losses, the biggest differences are the Clippers, who are merely 5-7, but rank 5th in this list. At the other end, the Magic are ranked 20th on this list despite a stellar 8-5 record.
Edit: As you all quickly noted, Minnesota is ranked 10th despite a 10-3 record and sole possession of the first seed in the West, an even bigger discrepancy than the Magic.
