It might have been that the Mario movie was made by Illumination so I had almost no expectations going in but I did really enjoy it way more than I was expecting.
It's kinda weird how that company is definitely capable of producing a good movie and they've demonstrated that a few times but they kinda just choose not to
They're talking about the Super Mario Bros movie from 1993 with Bob Hoskins. It was a dark dystopian cyberpunk movie.
