I'm sick of this, very American, defeatism "it won't work so should do nothing and bow down"
Think of him as a child who's acting out to get attention. Ignoring him is not bowing down—it would piss him off beyond belief if people actually did ignore him. The problem is that there are some who still react to the drivel that drips from his mouth.
His master is exactly the same way.
you can ignore a child because they are harmless… this is not the case here
