i subscribe to specific channels using rss like normal blogs and download videos i want using ytdlp. not really moving away from it but its good enough for me
I would argue this is moving away from a part of youtube, even though you are still physically watching videos on youtube just as much I don't think it is fair to say you haven't in some ways moved quite far away from youtube.
My rationale? If all the RSS feeds started linking to another video platform that was open would this really matter to you that much?
If you were still "using" youtube as heavily, it would.
