I feel like the panels could be reversed here?
No that's the joke he hasn't been listening the first thing he hears is the first panel so he thinks that's a weird way to start a conversation.
Or is it that she is just starting the conversation? We'll never know!

I feel like the genders could be swapped too. I was immediately thinking of women when I think about people not listening.
