!nostupidquestions is a community dedicated to being helpful and answering each others' questions on various topics.

The rules for posting and commenting, besides the rules defined here for lemmy.world, are as follows:

Rules (interactive)

Rule 1- All posts must be legitimate questions. All post titles must include a question.

All posts must be legitimate questions, and all post titles must include a question. Questions that are joke or trolling questions, memes, song lyrics as title, etc. are not allowed here. See Rule 6 for all exceptions.

Rule 2- Your question subject cannot be illegal or NSFW material.

Your question subject cannot be illegal or NSFW material. You will be warned first, banned second.

Rule 3- Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here.

Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here. Breaking this rule will not get you or your post removed, but it will put you at risk, and possibly in danger.

Rule 4- No self promotion or upvote-farming of any kind.

That's it.

Rule 5- No baiting or sealioning or promoting an agenda.

Questions which, instead of being of an innocuous nature, are specifically intended (based on reports and in the opinion of our crack moderation team) to bait users into ideological wars on charged political topics will be removed and the authors warned - or banned - depending on severity.

Rule 6- Regarding META posts and joke questions.

Provided it is about the community itself, you may post non-question posts using the [META] tag on your post title.

On fridays, you are allowed to post meme and troll questions, on the condition that it's in text format only, and conforms with our other rules. These posts MUST include the [NSQ Friday] tag in their title.

If you post a serious question on friday and are looking only for legitimate answers, then please include the [Serious] tag on your post. Irrelevant replies will then be removed by moderators.

Rule 7- You can't intentionally annoy, mock, or harass other members.

If you intentionally annoy, mock, harass, or discriminate against any individual member, you will be removed.

Likewise, if you are a member, sympathiser or a resemblant of a movement that is known to largely hate, mock, discriminate against, and/or want to take lives of a group of people, and you were provably vocal about your hate, then you will be banned on sight.

Rule 8- All comments should try to stay relevant to their parent content.

Rule 9- Reposts from other platforms are not allowed.

Let everyone have their own content.

Rule 10- Majority of bots aren't allowed to participate here. This includes using AI responses and summaries.

Best - California. Even the worst parts of the state are better than most other places in America, and the best parts are literally world wonders (Yosemite, Redwoods, Sequoias, Death Valley, Joshua Tree). Pricey AF, but you get what you pay for, and it's all here - mountains, deserts, ocean, lakes, Hollywood, Silicon Valley, big cities, little towns, pretty much any kind of life you could want, you can live it here if you've got the means to afford it.

Worst - Texas. It's where the worst of America decided to throw an endless rodeo and most of their trash. Yeah, other states may be stupider, or more racist, or more desolate... but nobody nowhere is louder and prouder of being a drunken pain in the ass than a Texan. Florida man comes in a close second if he's methed up enough, but Florida actually has cool shit like the Everglades and Miami and manatees and alligators.

Texas has Buc-ees and lot lizards.

Genuine California propaganda. Their public transit isn't good enough to be considered the best place to live.

I live in Florida and I have a rebuttal. I live in a small county and it's ALL old people. It's fucking HELL to live around people who are so old they can hardly operate a shopping cart, and they can vote too.

The only plus is that old people have no idea what being trans is actually like, so since im 5'5 and have a feminine voice I pass to literally everyone. It always amuses me whenever someone with Trump/TPUSA merch genders me correctly which happens nearly every day since I work as a cashier

Texas is worse. If anyone finds out you're trans there, your life is in danger - the cops will turn a blind eye to whatever JimBillyBob and his kin decide to do to you. The only place in Texas you might be able to live somewhat safely is Austin.

Plus, in Texas even the young people are fucking Boomers. Same entitlement, same attitudes, same fucking racism and hatred of anything different, same fucking Megachurch bullshit... it's like the entire fucking state collectively decided that the 50s were the height of cultural development and has actively invested in generational stupidity ever since.

Don't get me wrong, Florida is shit too, but it only recently turned to shit - pre-DeSantis it actually was worth visiting, and living in if you were near the beach (nothing like swimming in the east Atlantic down there).

But Texas has been working on being a shit state since before they joined the union - IMHO Florida has at least a couple of decades to go before it gets as absolutely idiotic as Texas.

that's true. My family has lived here for 6 generations and from what I've been told it's gotten a LOT worse.

We have a megachurch here too. Lost my mom to that cult, though shes always been a shitty person tbh 😪
For some reason there's a tiny dominos right next to it which I got pizza from and it was pretty awkward lol

it also have alot of rare mycoheterotrophic plants that live in those areas you mentioned. if you ever see one its quite a treat, because they are so unusual. they are usually associated with conifer forests.
