Current state that I understand, and am certainly no expert, is that privacy and battery preservation focus have it not designed to constantly ping and check for updates as much as larger as and data-based for-profit systems. Looks like it's been requested as a feature but who can say whether it gets implemented as it grows. One of its strengths is that it runs fully offline also.

To be sure, despite definite momentum and growth as apple and Google make product-destructive decisions to curry political favor with a fascist, open source programs will need more user growth to have the base where they could have the data points to even consider offering traffic routing as a layer.
