Overview:
Electric Vehicles are a key part of our tomorrow and how we get there. If we can get all the fossil fuel vehicles off our roads, out of our seas and out of our skies, we'll have a much better environment. This community is where we discuss the various different vehicles and news stories regarding electric transportation.

While American car companies sit there going 'Hurrrr durrr gasoline beats woke EVs'
China is going to outpace the US over the next 50 years and we're all going to be driving BYD cars.
China is absolutely a giant in EV development and production.
But compared to EU they are not really ahead IMO. I just saw a review comparing a Zeeker and Mercedes of similar price.
And the Mercedes beat the Zeeker by 25% in efficiency!! Using only 16 kWh/100km against 20 for the Zeeker.
The Zeeker was fast at charging, but with similar sized battery the Mercedes had way better range.
Also the assistant systems in the Chinese car were utter crap compared to the Mercedes.

In the cheaper spectrum the new ID Polo from VW has got absolutely raving reviews.
So I think we are still in the game here in Europe, But as you state, I too think USA is falling behind.
The difference is what China/BYD lacks in features, quality, safety, reliability, innovation, etc they make up for with IP theft and sheer production velocity.
I don't know how my Leaf compares to the Merc, would be interesting to see
Do you have an example of this alleged IP theft?
Because the things they are famous for are their own developments, like the blade batteries and the insanely fast charging.
The rest of an EV is not really different from normal cars, or are you claiming the rest of the world has some IP right to make cars?
