This is directed to everyone who has posted in this thread who mentioned they have their phone in or nearby while they shower for music, audio books, etc.

Why?

How long are you showering that you need some content to fill the time?
It honestly concerns me that some people can't go five to ten minutes, alone with their own thoughts.

Someone here mentioned meditation, and that is how I shower. A quick, five minute chance to disconnect from the noise of the world.

Yeah sorry bud some of our lives are real awful and the quiet just lets us remember.

Everyone’s life works differently. Let them enjoy themselves.

You think I wanna be hanging out for fifteen minutes WITH MY OWN THOUGHTS. you are crazier than I am.

My phone has replaced basically every content machine in my vicinity. I'm not buying a shower radio when I have a phone

For some of us, shower phone time is one of the only times I get to use my phone.

I'm just an overworked ADHD programmer, I don't at my phone unless there's a convenient moment during the day. Shower time is when I get to catch up on my YouTube subscriptions.

My wife has mixed irish and black hair. It takes legit 25 minutes with running water (45+ without) to detangle her hair.

Most people i know take 20+ minute showers. I fully believed they were lying when the local water company did a presentation at my elementary school and priced out 5-10 minutes for a shower.

Even just with wavy long hair it takes me like 20 minutes to shower

Dancing in the shower without music isn't nearly as fun 🤷

if i don't have music playing i might fall asleep in the shower. like, just monday my wife had to wake me up because i forgot my phone.

The shower and the shitter are the last places I'm alone with my thoughts. Not giving it up.

2nd paragraph is a bit unwarranted but I have been a phone in the shower user before.

It's like a book in the shower except your phone is water resistant (could also put it in a plastic bag for even more protection). I used it to read my comics. Don't do it anymore because my new phone is a flip phone and thats not the same level of water resistance as my old phone, but it was nice back then.

I have a cheap water-resistant speaker now that I use to listen to music or random talks

I don't get it either. It's my only "me" time unless I'm working on my car at night. But I put on a podcast or audiobook in the garage usually (not always). I like having SOME time when I can just... Exist. Alone. In hot running water. With nothing but my thoughts.

But tough times have given me tons of mental fortitude to get through just about anything and perhaps not everyone's brain is wired the same. I suspect for someone with severe anxiety, it's very different and being alone with their thoughts might be the worst thing. And anxiety disorders are pretty common these days from what I've heard

I was wondering the same. Even though my showers always end up taking 15-20 minutes (I get stuck in the warm water), why would you fill that nice, short time, with some extra noise?
